The Finance and Strategy department within UC Health provides strategic, administrative, and financial direction to support and optimize the overall effectiveness of UC Health. Led by the Associate Vice President, Finance and Chief Strategy Officer, teams work closely with the UC Health division, UC Health academic health centers, and UC Office of the President to provide innovative solutions to complex strategic matters and administer inclusive, efficient operational, financial, and strategic guidance. The Executive Director of UC Health Finance will report directly to the Associate Vice President of Finance and Strategy and serve in a key strategic and integrative role that seeks to maximize the financial health and positive financial trajectory of the entities within the UC Health system. The Executive Director will work in alignment with strategic goals, values, and plans of the UC Health Division within UCOP, as well as the UC Health system. This leader will work in coordination and collaboration with the CFOs and other leadership of the academic health centers and health professional schools to: standardize systemwide financial reporting; conduct financial analysis and build new analytical tools that can support the strategy and operations of the division and the system; and develop and execute targeted initiatives to optimize the receipt of revenue, control expenditures, and ensure conservation of assets. This is a highly visible, strategic, interactive, and inclusive position that will involve direct and continuous interaction with leadership within UC Health, UC Office of the President, and throughout the UC system. The successful candidate will have at least ten years of progressively senior experience in health care finance, including executive-level responsibility within a large, complex health system or academic health enterprise, with demonstrated leadership in strategic financial planning, long-range forecasting, and enterprise financial reporting. This executive will have deep expertise in health care finance and accounting within an integrated delivery system, including a strong understanding of reimbursement models, capital and operating finance, and the financial interdependencies of clinical, academic, and research missions. A strategic and trusted advisor who can synthesize complex financial, operational, and strategic information to inform high-stakes decisions at enterprise and governance levels, the Executive Director will have the ability to translate complex financial analyses into clear, actionable insights for Presidents, Regents, CFOs, Chancellors, CEOs, and other senior leaders. Possessing business acumen and a systems perspective, the Executive Director will be experienced in influencing and working collaboratively, with a track record of building alignment across independent units with differing priorities. This leader will be an exceptional communicator with a high level of emotional intelligence, discretion, and professional integrity, who has earned an advanced degree in business administration, health administration, finance, accounting, or equivalent experience / training. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The full salary range is $260,000 to $350,000 annually (mid-point is $305,000). It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the full salary range for a position; the expectation is that the salary will be closer to the mid-point of the range.
