Location: South Chesterfield - 1st Shift - Service Dept.

SUMMARY:This role requires a skilled individual to perform manual and clerical work in the receiving and storing of materials in a warehouse environment. The Receiving Clerk must be an individual who communicates effectively and demonstrates a high degree of concern for the work, the workplace, and fellow employees. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receiving, processing and checking of merchandise to verify the correctness of the shipment against all documentation.
  • Prepare documentation such as work orders, bills of lading and shipment orders to route materials.
  • Verification and data entry of all incoming material shipments.
  • Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifest, invoices or orders to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment.
  • Record shipment data such as weight, charges, space availability, damages and discrepancies for reporting, accounting and recordkeeping purposes.
  • Contact carrier representatives to plan and to issue instructions for shipment and delivery of raw materials.
  • Communicate with establishment representatives to rectify problems such as damage, shortages, and non-conformance to specifications and file freight claims.
  • Compute amounts, such as space available, storage, shipping and demurrage charges using a calculator or price list.
  • Maintain Raw Materials Receiving Calendar.
  • Monitor receiving materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
  • Deliver or route materials to departments, using work devices, such as hand truck, conveyor, or sorting bins.
  • Additional responsibilities as requested by Supervisor/Manager.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to demonstrate sound judgment when confronted with unexpected or unfamiliar work and/or people situations.
  • Accurate typing skills and/or data entry skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.
  • AS400 and Oracle experience preferred.
  • Strong computer literacy.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One to three years related experience
