Join a mission-focused program supporting critical Department of Defense (DoD) activities by leveraging your exceptional organizational and administrative skills as an Senior Chief of Staff. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert who helps executive leadership convert priorities into coordinated action, clear decisions, and measurable outcomes. The role operates as a strategic integrator across functions, programs, and stakeholders by managing executive priorities, synthesizing complex information, preparing decision-ready materials, tracking high-visibility actions, and ensuring leadership has the information needed to act with speed and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Priority Management:
- Translate senior leader intent into clear actions, timelines, owners, and expected outcomes.
- Establish and maintain an executive operating rhythm, including staff meetings, decision forums, task reviews, and leadership engagement preparation.
- Track high-priority actions from assignment through closure, ensuring responses are accurate, timely, and aligned with leadership direction.
- Identify stalled actions, unclear ownership, or decision bottlenecks and recommend corrective action.
Decision Support and Strategic Analysis:
- Gather, assess, and synthesize input from multiple stakeholders to support executive decisions.
- Prepare executive-level briefings, read-ahead materials, information papers, decision packages, talking points, and meeting summaries.
- Identify risks, tradeoffs, dependencies, and second-order effects before issues reach senior decision forums.
- Provide leadership with actionable recommendations rather than unfiltered information.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Coordinate across programs, functional teams, technical experts, operations, finance, contracts, security, and customer-facing stakeholders as required.
- Ensure teams understand leadership priorities, deadlines, decision criteria, and required deliverables.
- Resolve alignment issues by clarifying intent, connecting the right stakeholders, and elevating unresolved concerns.
- Support cross-functional initiatives that require senior-level visibility, disciplined follow-through, and consistent communication.
Strategic Communications:
- Develop clear, accurate, and audience-appropriate communications for senior leaders.
- Convert complex technical, operational, acquisition, policy, or program information into concise executive products.
- Maintain consistency between leadership messaging, organizational priorities, and external stakeholder engagement.
- Prepare leadership for internal reviews, customer meetings, conferences, governance forums, and senior-level engagements.
Governance, Task Management, and Process Discipline:
- Maintain visibility of leadership taskers, suspense items, commitments, meeting outcomes, and decision records.
- Recommend improvements to staff processes, battle rhythm, information flow, and leadership engagement preparation.
- Ensure executive products meet quality, accuracy, formatting, classification, and coordination standards before submission.
- Support governance forums by preparing agendas, capturing decisions, assigning follow-up actions, and monitoring completion.
Risk and Issue Elevation:
- Monitor emerging risks that may affect executive priorities, organizational performance, stakeholder confidence, or mission execution.
- Distinguish between issues that can be resolved at the working level and issues requiring executive intervention.
- Provide concise escalation summaries that include context, impact, options, and recommended next steps.
Required Qualifications
Technical Expertise:
- Experience supporting senior leaders, executive offices, program offices, command staff, or equivalent leadership teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high visibility taskings with competing deadlines.
- Strong written communication skills, including experience developing executive-level briefings, summaries, staff packages, and decision materials.
- Ability to synthesize complex information into clear findings, risks, options, and recommendations.
- Working knowledge of staff coordination, governance processes, executive communications, and cross-functional action tracking.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, national security, management, engineering, communications, policy, or a related field. Master's preferred
- 10 or more years of experience in executive staff support, program management, operations, strategy, defense, government, aerospace, technology, or another complex mission-driven environment.
Skills and Competencies:
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for internal and external interactions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to dynamic priorities.
Security Clearance:
- Active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) eligibility.
- U.S. citizenship, when required for access to classified U.S. government information.
