Job Overview

The Patient Registration Representative Senior provides high level administrative support and customer service support to patients, families, internal team members, providers and referring practices in admissions, registration, insurance management functions, and check in/check out. In addition, takes on senior level duties/projects assigned by leadership to support the supervisor. Supports departmental and organizational goals including pre-service collections registration quality, patient family experience and team member training.

Job Status: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Shift: Days. Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides patient support services which may include scheduling, registration, patient greeting and providing directions, patient check in/out and follow-up visit support; attempts to resolve escalated patient or system situations within the department, following escalation pathways.
  • Utilizes and remains up to date with department office operations and established policies and procedures.
  • Provides on-the-job training and mentoring for new hires.
  • Serves as subject matter expert (SME) for team; serves as change agent for all new and adjusted workflows by assisting team members/patients and families with questions.
  • Participates in various organization-wide initiatives/projects as assigned by leadership
  • Assists supervisor with weekly or monthly productivity statistics, reports, workload re-assignments and audits.
  • Acts as a liaison between Patient Access, other departments, and the community. Creates strong partnerships and communication pathways with peers.
  • Provides a high level of customer service support and assistance to patients, families, physicians and other internal/external customers; responds to complex questions regarding appointments, procedures and services.
  • Supports health insurance management functions by collecting patient insurance information, documenting the patient's method of payment and/or collecting payment financial responsibility. May include supporting referrals and pre-authorizations and benefits/eligibility determinations.
  • Ensure patients are informed of benefits and associated costs by creating and communicating personalized estimates of financial responsibility.
  • Provides and obtains signatures for the appropriate treatment consents forms from patients/families. Maintains current understanding of patient access policies, state laws and regulations including acknowledgement documents, legal guardian verification and consent collection.
  • Obtains and documents patient demographic information.
  • Receives patient calls or inquiries to schedule appointments, complete registration functions and route calls as appropriate.
  • Performs data entry functions, including entering patient demographic information and patient updates in a medical records system.
  • Conducts patient and family rounding to ensure patient's/family's comfort level.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degrees
    • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience
    • Required:Two (2) years of healthcare, administrative, or customer service experience.
  • Equivalency
    • A relevant associate or bachelor's degree may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $22.20 to $33.30
