THE POSITION

Join the Department of General Services as a Print Production Technician and help keep essential materials moving. This position's primary responsibility is to perform complex time-sensitive and data sensitive work in a mail production environment that involves the operation of high-speed, high-volume mail equipment; as well as the delivery, shipping and receiving of materials and supplies. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports a busy production setting where printed materials must be accurate, timely, and ready for distribution. As a Print Production Technician, you will perform the following duties:

  • Printer Operation: Operate high speed printers and inserters to produce forms, letters, manuals, brochures, and other printed materials
  • Job Setup: Prepare and program digital printers by reviewing job specifications and releasing work from the print queue
  • Quality Checks: Perform quality assurance reviews to confirm correct printing, proper stock usage, and consistent output throughout each run
  • Data Accuracy: Inspect variable print data to ensure information appears in the correct locations and resolve print issues
  • Bindery Tasks: Complete hand-based tasks such as comb binding, spiral binding, banding, padding, and packing materials for delivery
  • Equipment Care: Maintain digital equipment by performing daily maintenance, clearing jams, changing supplies, and making minor adjustments

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 24 hour per day, 5 days a week facility
  • Work schedules include a 30 minute lunch:
    • 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday - Friday
    • 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM Monday - Friday
    • 11:00 PM to 07:00 AM Sunday - Thursday
  • This position is considered essential. You will be required to work during emergencies and office closings.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Print Production Operator (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience in the operation of print or mail insertion equipment or similar machinery used in a print or mail production facility; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must have experience running production equipment.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
