Job Details:
Mercer Engineering Research Center (MERC), a research institute of Mercer University, provides high quality engineering, scientific, and technical support services to both government and private industry customers. The Accounting Clerk will perform accounting and finance support functions as assigned and under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Finance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reconciles procurement cards, UPS shipping invoices, car rental invoices, and the MERC bank statement to the checkbook.

  • Responsible for all company travel to include booking trips, preparing itineraries, obtaining internal approvals, and reconciling and processing all travel expense vouchers.

  • Supports accounting operations by scanning and filing documents in a timely manner.

  • Performs as backup to the MERC receptionist during daily lunch periods and other scheduled times as required.

  • Responsible for working with financial, accounting, and/or program data efficiently and effectively, with a demonstrated attention to detail.

  • Protects organization's value by keeping all information confidential.

  • Executes other duties and responsibilities and/or tasks as directed in a timely and accurate manner.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • US Citizenship is required.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.

  • A high school diploma and 6 years of progressively responsible administrative experience.

  • Previous experience working with accounting and financial reports.

  • Requires high degree of proficiency and knowledge of personal computers.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office, to include advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Must have the ability to use the internet to extract information pertinent to performing assigned duties and responsibilities, as required.

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and public relations skills, have demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, experience in exercising independent judgment in handling difficult and sensitive issues, and the ability to project professionalism reflective of a highly visible administrative office.

  • Good use of the English language and good oral and written communication skills.

  • Additional requirements may be added as appropriate and as specified in the specific Personnel Requisition Form.

    Final rank will be determined on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
