The Opportunity

The Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Athletics Department is currently accepting applications for the Assistant Athletic Trainer. Reporting to the Director of Sports Medicine, this role assists with all athletic training services for the intercollegiate athletic teams. This position will facilitate practice and game coverage for the intercollegiate athletic program and all activities of the Sports Medicine office and athletic training/rehabilitation area.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist the Director of Sports Medicine in the prevention, management, and acute and post-acute care of injuries encountered in competitive athletics.
  • Assist the Director of Sports Medicine in providing rehabilitative therapy for individual student-athletes when referred by a Team Physician.
  • Assist the Director of Sports Medicine in coordinating substance abuse education and screening
  • Consult with Strength and Conditioning staff and coaching staff on conditioning programs, safety of proper athletic equipment, equipment safety, and safety of facilities and grounds at competitive venues.
  • For assigned sport, present at all home and away contests and practices.
  • Assist in pre-season physical assessment for all student-athletes.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining a current records management system, including all sport examinations, health questionnaires, athletic insurance information, daily injury reports, and treatment records. Participate in the NCAA Injury Surveillance System (ISS) as injury records system interface allows.
  • Assist the Director of Sports Medicine in supervision of athletic training facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters' Degree or one year post baccalaureate Sports Medicine Fellowship with a strong emphasis in athletic training.
  • Must be certified in first-aid, CPR, and a certified member in good standing with the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), and eligible for licensure with the State of Florida Department of Health.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a diverse group of constituents.
