Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct experimental research for the purpose of establishing enzyme-based processes for small-molecule pharmaceuticals, and promote process development in collaboration with research teams in Japan, customers, and external resources.
- This position is responsible for planning, conducting, and reporting experimental research. Specific responsibilities include enzyme screening, development of enzyme-based processes, enzyme engineering through genetic engineering, development of cultivation methods using genetically modified microorganisms, development of analytical methods, scale-up studies utilizing external resources, and evaluation of new enzyme-related technologies. In addition, this position collaborates closely with internal R&D personnel, customer-facing staff, experimental equipment suppliers, raw material suppliers, and external technical service providers to execute experimental research effectively.
- As necessary, this position conducts technical supports for the production.
- Under the direction of the supervisor, this position conducts research and information gathering related to R&D projects, including regulatory requirements, scientific literature, technical journals, seminars, customer interviews, and trade shows.
- This position also promotes the exploration, evaluation, and introduction of new enzyme-related technologies for future application.
- Through technical presentations to customers and technical presentations at seminars and conferences, this position promotes technical capabilities and supports the acquisition of new projects.
- This position supports sales personnel by providing technical advice and proposing solutions to customer issues and challenges related to enzyme-based processes.
- Based on customer feedback, this position collaborates with R&D personnel as well as Sales and Marketing teams to advance the development of enzyme-based processes.

- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks and keeping abreast of industry trends and related compliance issues within the area of responsibilities.

- Fulfill mandatory training requirements applicable for department and job duties as appropriate.

Education
PHD of Biochemistry (preferred)
Masters of Biochemistry (preferred)
Bachelors of Biochemistry (required)
Experience
2 years: Experience in either enzyme research and development or enzyme-based process development within the pharmaceutical industry. (required)
