Job Duties
Reporting to the Athletics Director and/or Sport Administrator designee, the individual serving in this position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
- Oversight and administration of all aspects of the Women's Lacrosse program with a priority on the development and well-being of the student-athlete, academic success and competitive excellence grounded on the athletics department creed (mission) and code (core values).
- Hiring, instructing, supervising and monitoring coaching staff and Women's Lacrosse designated administrative staff with the goal of assuring attendance at regularly scheduled compliance coaches meetings and full compliance with NCAA, University and conference policies, regulations and guidelines.
- Planning, organization and execution for coaching duties for all practice sessions and competitions to include evaluation of opponents and the development of a successful game plan.
- Planning, organization and execution of recruiting activities and responsibilities to comply with the university's policies on the recruitment and retention of qualified student-athletes, including the evaluation, contact, and establishing relationships with prospective student-athletes and coaches.
- Development and communication of team rules, policies and guidelines in compliance with UNC System, University, athletics department NCAA and conference by-laws, policies, guidelines, procedures and regulations.
- Overall management, supervision, instruction and direction of student-athletes participating on the Women's Lacrosse program.
- Foster academic values and maintain program integrity by supporting, abiding and enforcing all academic guidelines and policies of the university and athletics department with oversight and development of Women's Lacrosse program academic expectations that contribute to the academic achievement and progress toward a degree of the student-athletes.
- Ensure proper budget control and fiscal management of Women's Lacrosse program in accordance with state, university and athletics department policies, guidelines and regulations and oversight of all administrative functions of the Women's Lacrosse program.
- Develop competition schedules in consultation with Sport Administrator in accordance with NCAA, conference and athletics department guidelines, procedures and directives.
- Oversight of team travel arrangements for competition and any other team travel.
- Make appearances, perform media interviews, speaking engagements and support ECU Pirate Club activities representing the Women's Lacrosse program and ECU Athletics.
- Support and work cooperatively with Sports Medicine/Athletic Training, Strength and Conditioning, Equipment, Student Development, Life Skills, NCAA Compliance, Media Relations, Marketing, Game Operations, etc. areas in accordance with department policies and procedures.
- Obtain prior written approval and report in compliance with university, conference and NCAA guidelines and policies, any outside activities benefits and/or pay is received. (Media appearances, personal appearances, camps and clinics, speaking engagements, commercial endorsements, etc.)
- Support and abide by University Image Standards and all athletics department branding and licensing guidelines, regulations and procedures.
- Attend all Head Coaches meetings and additional administrative meetings as scheduled by the Athletics Director and/or Sport Administrator designee.- Perform duties with professional conduct representing the university and athletics department and provide leadership cultivating an environment of compliance, performance excellence, respect, and student-athlete well-being.
- Comply with all applicable laws, policies, by-laws, regulations, procedures and guidelines of North Carolina, University of North Carolina system, East Carolina University, the Department of Athletics, the National Collegiate Athletic Association ( NCAA), and all applicable conferences or associations.
- Build quality relationships and work collaboratively and professionally with athletics, Pirate Club and University staff, students, and all constituencies and stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletics Director and/or Sport Administrator designee.
Minimum Education/Experience
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and previous experience coaching or playing lacrosse at the collegiate level.
