Overview

In this position, you will be planning work of moderate difficulty. You will need specialized knowledge of the planning field and have an elevated level of duties and responsibilities. You will be expected to posses in-depth knowledge in healthcare operations and planning.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Application of Knowledge
    • Assists in developing planning studies and reports in support of new and updated plans, programs, and regulations.
    • Assists in review of plans and apply provisions of the ordinances and codes to determine compliance with regulations and to apply regulations to field conditions.
    • Ability to create graphic designs, development strategies, and render site plans via sketches and/or computer graphics highly desirable.
    • Assists in the review of moderately difficult development proposals and site plans from clients for conformance with codes, plans, and regulations.
    • Collects a variety of statistical and demographic data and prepare reports and maps on topics such as census information, land use, tax base data, and occupancy rates.
    • Conducts field evaluations and assessments independently.
    • Prepare data and visualization elements such as tables, charts, accurate reports, modles, infographics and 3D illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.
    • Interprets and applices applicable state, county and local codes, ordinances, and regulations.
    • Creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information to solve less well-defined practical problems.
    • Conducts extensive research in specific or general project areas.
    • Supports development of formal and technical reports, working papers, and correspondence.
    • Identifies community problems, issues, and opportunities during the community planning process.
    • Assists in developing long range plans for clients
    • Assists in providing strategies to promote economic and community development or efficient land use consistent with community goals.
    • Evaluates adequacy of community facilities in meeting current and projected needs.
    • Leads and creates planning studies and reports in support of new and updated plans, programs, and regulations
    • Leads field evaluations and assessments
    • Prepares and presents detailed reports on development proposals to government bodies.
    • Leads and presents formal and technical reports, working papers, and correspondence.
    • Highly familiar with complete streets, Vision Zero and similar planning and safety initiatives including design and engineering strategies and selection of countermeasures.
  • Project Management
    • Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously
    • Ability to work independently or in a team environmnet as needed
    • Ability to attend to details while keeping big-picture goals in mind.
  • Profitibility, Planning, Scheduling
    • Creates work plan for assigned tasks. Monitors and projects personal workload status, advising supervisor of difficulties in accomplishing schedules.
    • Recommends priorities, schedules, and funding sources to implement public improvement plan.
    • Meets scheduled key dates.
    • Advises Manager of changes.
  • Professional Development
    • Actively participates in local professional organizations.
    • Identify continuing education opportunities to expand professional growth and advance the collective ability of the discipline.
    • Attends training provided by senior staff to improve base knowledge.
  • Leadership
    • Coordinates community review of plans and development projects.
    • Supports in providing information to the pubic regarding plans and development projects.
    • Ability to facilitate in-person and virtual public participation activities.
  • Travel as required
  • Other duties which may be assigned as needed

Education/Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in architecture, healthcare administration, nursing, industrial engineering or related area of study; or a master's degree (preferred) in the fields listed above.
  • AICP Certification is preferred
  • 8-15 years of relevant experience

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of planning
  • Ability to lead client-facing meetings and manage client relationships
  • Knowledge of a relevant specialization in healthcare facility operations and planning is desired.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of research and data collection
  • Knowledge of effective writing techniques
  • Statistical, algebraic, or geometric knowledge and ability to apply such knowledge in practical situations.
  • Excellent professional ethics, leadership skills, accountability, and decision-making capabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, presentation, and analytic skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Adobe Creative Suite, ESRI ArcGIS, or similar products.
  • Well-developed knowledge of planning principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of or experience in community remediation and redevelopment, and knowledge of relevant Federal programs

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
