Commercial Boiler Service TechnicianLocation: New York City / Greater NYC AreaPosition Type: Full TimePosition OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Boiler Service Technician to join our service team. This role is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of large scale commercial gas fired boiler systems, including both steam and hydronic applications. The ideal candidate will possess deep hands on experience with commercial boiler equipment, power burners, and complex control systems, along with strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capabilities.This is an advanced technical role requiring a high degree of independence, professionalism, and diagnostic expertise.Key Responsibilities

  • Service, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial gas fired boilers, including steam and hot water (hydronic) systems
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with boiler controls, safety devices, burners, and mechanical components
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, start ups, and system shutdowns
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, sequence of operations, and technical documentation
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical control circuits, including relays, safeties, and interlocks
  • Work independently in boiler rooms at commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities
  • Document service work performed and communicate findings clearly to customers and internal teams
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal safety codes and regulations
  • Participate in on call rotation as required


Required Equipment Experience
Candidates must have real, hands on experience with a combination of the following commercial equipment:
Commercial Boilers (Gas Fired - Steam & Hydronic)



  • Weil McLain - EGH, LGB, Series 88 (with Power Flame burners)
  • H.B. Smith - Series 19 and 28 boilers with Power Flame and Beckett burners
  • Laars - FT Wall Hung, MagnaTherm, NeoTherm, Pennant, Mighty Therm
  • Lochinvar - Knight, Armor, CWN
  • Riello - Array systems


Commercial Gas Water Heaters



  • A.O. Smith
  • Bradford White
  • Rheem / Rudd


Controls & Component Experience
Strong troubleshooting proficiency is required with components including, but not limited to:



  • Aquastats and temperature controls
  • Pressuretrols and steam pressure controls
  • Circulator pumps and pump controls
  • Zone valves and isolation valves
  • Expansion tanks (hydronic and steam)
  • Water feeders and low water cutoffs (float type and electronic)
  • Relief valves and safety valves
  • Backflow preventers and fill valves


Electrical & Technical Requirements



  • Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills are mandatory
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Strong understanding of electrical theory as applied to boiler and burner systems
  • Experience using diagnostic tools such as multimeters and combustion analyzers
  • Basic electrical knowledge alone is insufficient for this role


Additional Qualifications



  • Working knowledge of commercial plumbing systems related to boiler operation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to customer sites within the NYC area
  • OSHA training and manufacturer certifications are a plus


Preferred Background



  • 7+ years of commercial boiler service experience
  • Previous work in hospitals, universities, central plants, commercial buildings, or large residential complexes
  • Experience with power burners and combustion analysis


Compensation & BenefitsCompensation will be commensurate with experience and market conditions and is competitive with senior commercial boiler service roles in the NYC market.
