Primary Duties The Fitness Floor Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the safety and well-being of the fitness floor at the Campus Recreation Center, including answering patron questions and concerns, maintaining machines and equipment, assisting patrons with spotting and providing proper machine instruction. Responsible for the appearance of all fitness spaces through cleaning of equipment, exchanging machine cleaning towels, vacuuming all areas, and returning equipment to the designated location Display excellent customer service through answering questions members may have about our facility, fitness, and programs Ensuring a safe environment for all members through the enforcement all fit floor policies and procedures to members/guests Responsible for the appearance of all fitness spaces through the cleaning of equipment, Assist in the preventative maintenance of fitness floor equipment at the Campus Recreation Center & Siddall Facilities Responsible for assisting group fitness instructors in multipurpose room set-up and class count attendance To fulfil the Campus Recreation mission to create the best experience for everyone we serve Be knowledgeable about programs and services offered by Campus Recreation Attend staff meetings and trainings hosted by Campus Recreation Other duties as assigned Additional Information Campus Recreation provides additional development opportunities for staff beyond job duties including the possibility to attend varying conferences at state, regional, and national levels as well as inner-departmental committee opportunities through our student-led organization, Recreational Development & Leadership (RDL). This position may require early mornings, late nights, and holidays. Hour requirement: 8-20 hours/week Skills acquired include: Critical Thinking Communication Time Management Problem Solving Conflict Resolution Minimum Requirements High School Diploma or GED Enrolled at a post-secondary institution or a secondary school. Enrolled at least part-time (one or more credit hours if at a post-secondary institution), except for summer term, or will be a registered student during the next academic term. "Enrollment" shall include: The period between two successive terms for which the student is enrolled. The one "off" term in each academic year in which the student is not enrolled. Student employee status may be retained for one additional term following either graduation or withdrawal from enrollment. Must be at least 16 years of age. Physical Requirements/Work Environment Ability and willingness to stand, walk, and navigate the facility for long periods of time Ability and willingness to enforce policies and handle conflicts through effective communication Ability and willingness to push, pull, and/or bend often during shift Able to lift and carry up to 100lbs or more Compensation and Benefits Pay rate - $11.00/hour 20% discount of programs and services (excluding Pro Shop) As a UC student employee of an Ohio public institution, you will not contribute to the federal Social Security system, other than contributions to Medicare.
