The Highlights:
Under general supervision, assist with the installation and support of data and communications infrastructure, including LAN/WAN/Voice systems. Rely on established guidelines and instructions to perform daily job functions.

What You'll Do:


  • Configure, deploy, upgrade and maintain network and telecommunication equipment according to DePaul specifications. Monitor network equipment status and respond to issues.
  • Complete all tasks associated with phone moves/adds/changes including programming dialing privileges, phone configurations, handset installation, and premise wiring. Work with internal customers to plan and execute department-level moves. Respond to trouble tickets while adhering to service level agreements.
  • Assist with the planning, installation and maintenance of structured cabling infrastructure. Work with trades and contractors as necessary to install, troubleshoot, and repair structured cabling.
  • Assist with installation, troubleshooting, and configuring WLAN (wifi) devices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



What You'll Need:



  • Bachelor's degree in a technology field.

  • 1 year of data networking and telecommunications experience OR equivalent work experience.
  • Possess knowledge of basic networking standards, protocols, principles, and services as applied in modern, enterprise, production networks.
  • Able to troubleshoot technical problems of basic to medium complexity using generally accepted troubleshooting principles.
  • Able to learn through trial and error. Ability to keep abreast of relevant new technology and retain information is required.
  • Able to troubleshoot basic to moderately complex technical problems spanning a variety of technical disciplines.
  • Able to research issues and learn independently.
  • Maintain an awareness of relevant new technologies and the ability to retain information.
  • Basic knowledge of open source software, automation, and command line scripting is desired.
  • Utilize basic working knowledge of a variety of technology disciplines and components, including, but not limited to: data networking, firewalls, load balancers, storage subsystems, and software development.
  • Possess satisfactory verbal and written communication skills and be able to explain basic to moderately complex technical problems or functions in non-technical fashion. Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers, co-workers, peers, and vendors.
  • Effectively work individually and as part of a team. Demonstrate strong morale and spirit while focusing on the success of the team. Use creativity, positivity, and unique personal attributes to contribute to a climate.
  • Possess attention to detail and satisfactory organizational skills with ability to multi-task amongst multiple responsibilities, projects, and clients in a fast paced environment.
  • Maintain customer focused attitude dedicated to meeting expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.



The anticipated hiring range for this position is: $56,222 to $73,000.
The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
