Responsibilities
The Vice President of Travel Technology leads the strategic direction and operational delivery of all client-facing and internal technology solutions within a corporate business travel management environment. This role is accountable for the full lifecycle of corporate travel technology, including online booking tools, traveler profile systems, approval workflows, quality control platforms, and transactional technology, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of corporate clients, travel advisors, and operational teams. The VP of Travel Technology partners across sales, account management, operations, and supplier relations to drive technology adoption, optimize the traveler experience, and support the company's competitive positioning in the corporate travel market.
Technology Strategy, Vision, and Roadmap:Develop and communicate a clear technology vision and strategy that aligns with the company's corporate travel business objectives and competitive positioning.
- Define and manage the corporate travel technology roadmap, incorporating input from clients, account management, operations, sales, and industry trends to prioritize investment and drive innovation.
- Set the strategy for product lifecycle management, tracking release information, usability matrices, and deployment of new functionality across online booking tools, traveler profile solutions, approval systems, and quality control platforms.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify new technology opportunities, assess emerging travel tech trends including AI and next-generation booking platforms, and ensure the company remains at the forefront of corporate travel technology.
- Benchmark key performance indicators across technology solutions and drive best practices to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency across all platforms.
- Technology Implementation, Systems Support, and Delivery:
- Own end-to-end delivery of corporate travel technology implementations (scope, requirements, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support), ensuring on-time, in-scope, high-quality outcomes.
- Define and govern internal/external SLAs across platforms and support teams, including escalations, response times, and resolution targets aligned to client commitments.
- Manage client expectations with clear status and resolution communications; serve as senior escalation for high-impact client technology issues.
- Own CSAT and SLA performance: run implementation/support feedback loops (surveys, ticket trends, client input), report uptime/incidents/milestones, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions.
- Lead change management for client platform migrations, with clear communications, training, and go-live support to minimize disruption and protect CSAT.
- Drive adoption via scorecards and site audits; partner with account management and marketing to increase utilization and feature awareness.
- Manage third-party vendors to SLAs; escalate defects, track remediation to closure, and prevent vendor issues from impacting client commitments.
- Enforce policies to ensure platforms and partners meet data security, integrity, GDPR, SOX, and other regulatory requirements.
- Client Engagement, Go-to-Market, and Sales Enablement:
- Develop go-to-market strategies for technology solutions with clear positioning, messaging, and launch plans in partnership with marketing and sales.
- Support sales RFPs and client presentations with consultative expertise, clearly articulating capabilities, features, and differentiators.
- Lead client-facing technology discussions, setting expectations, educating stakeholders, and promoting best practices.
- Maintain a client product/features database and report on implementation quality and platform performance.
- Build thought leadership through industry forums and publications, and strengthen relationships with key partners, suppliers, and influencers.
- Team Leadership, Collaboration, Innovation and Operational Excellence:
- Lead and develop a high-performing travel technology team; set goals, coach regularly, drive accountability, and foster an inclusive culture of innovation and operational excellence.
- Drive AI adoption (intelligent servicing, automation, proactive insights) to improve advisor productivity, traveler experience, and service quality.
- Partner across Altour (operations, sales, account management, marketing, information security) to align priorities and deliver client outcomes.
- Manage capacity, timelines, dependencies, and risks; communicate status clearly to stakeholders.
- Ensure platforms, integrations, and partners meet Altour security, legal, and compliance standards to protect client data and continuity.
Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of corporate travel technology platforms, including online booking tools (e.g., Concur, Atriis, GetThere), traveler profile systems, GDS platforms (Sabre, Amadeus, Travelport), and quality control solutions; familiarity with NDC and modern travel content distribution.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, with strong decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills; demonstrated success managing virtual and distributed teams.
- Strong project management skills with experience managing multiple complex technology initiatives simultaneously; proficiency in project planning tools and methodologies including Agile and Waterfall.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data, KPIs, and performance metrics to drive informed decision-making, justify technology investments, and measure outcomes against business objectives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to translate complex technology concepts for varied audiences including corporate clients, executive leadership, and non-technical stakeholders; experienced presenting at client forums, industry conferences, and internal seminars.
- Strong focus on the client and traveler experience, with a demonstrated ability to translate business requirements and client feedback into actionable technology improvements and scalable solutions.
- Knowledge of AI, emerging technology trends, and their application within the corporate travel industry; awareness of data security, GDPR, SOX compliance, and technology risk management as applicable to travel management operations.
