Job Description

Summary:

We are looking for a highly capable Technical Data Analyst to join our Claims Operations Compliance and Data team and work from our Rockwood, PA office. This role will serve as a technical lead on the US Claims Data Solutions Team, but also provide support to IT and for a limited time, Underwriting. The team's mission includes but is not limited to building and distributing claims reports and visualization.

This is a 100% in-office position. Candidates must be able to work on-site at a designated company office during standard business hours.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to perform work under limited technical direction and within broad limits and authority, on assignments reflecting potentially with significant impact on departmental results.
  • Solving difficult problems that requires an understanding of a broader set of issues.
  • Specifically for US Claims:
    • Gather and manipulate claims data from multiple operating systems, conduct analysis, identify trends, and summarize findings to "tell the story behind the numbers".
    • Support U.S. Claims compliance with governance related directives and assist Claims Compliance and Data Manager with projects on an as-needed basis
    • Manage the Reporting Calendar to ensure an equitable distribution of work within data team
    • Mentor solutions-oriented staff and ensure team collaboration on data and compliance related initiatives
    • Serve as the key Claims business contact and liaison for reporting requests. This includes helping to diagnose/validate the business need and prioritize requests for analysis and reports
  • Work directly with IT to ensure best practices are being followed in data collection, data accuracy, and data integrity. Specifically:
    • Assist with programming as needed and hand it over to IT for implementation
    • Assist as needed with IT-related errors.
    • Application Owner Support for TDS. Assist with questions, prioritization of tickets and putting in service requests as needed. Work directly with IT, including review of requirements. Work on pre-requirements on tickets to help reduce errors by reviewing tickets and complete cursory write up of what needs done.
    • Claims Adjuster Updates and Levels of Authority. Add new adjuster numbers and remove their access on offboarding. Update systems to reflect changes for levels of authority, and audit quarterly to verify they match the signed forms.
    • Run queries requested for data and several data calls. Build queries for others and repair some access queries when users are getting errors.
    • Answer questions and do research for tickets to be placed as to how best to do or find issues when users cannot balance for data feeds, like our ISO reporting quarterly, or other data calls
  • Work directly with Underwriting until they can assume the following responsibilities:
    • GL Rate Full Loads by Company/State and also individual class updates. This includes the LCMs from download to workup, the class descriptions and then separately to these the Increased Limits Factors.
    • WC Rate Full Loads by Company/State and also individual class updates.
    • wcprism download of state rejected transactions
    • CGL master file policy and class maintenance thru pc-tds and new web-tds for new GL/GPL. Complete updates to mater file policy and class tables.
    • Policy control maintenance thru pc-tds screen.
    • WC master file policy and class maintenance thru pc-tds screen.
    • Daily and monthly premium and incurred balancing.

Qualifications / Experience Required:

  • A working knowledge of the claims business environment in order to effectively discuss and prioritize reporting needs though:
    • A minimum of five years' experience focused on data and compliance in a claims environment or other equivalent experience working with data gathering and analysis.
    • Experience supporting specialty programs and partnering with TPAs, MGAs, or other outside vendors preferred.
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university strongly preferred. Two or more related designations or four additional years of related experience focused on data and compliance or other equivalent experience working with data gathering and analysis.
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite (particularly Access and Excel) and other business-related software.
    • Prior experience with data profiling software is required, specifically:
    • Ability to read, understand and develop SQL code / MS SQL Server / Oracle
    • Experience with data mining and profiling along with an ability to perform analysis across data groups
    • Understanding of claims compliance reporting and analysis
    • Familiarity with ISO and NCCI or any other statistical agent preferred
  • Must have good business acumen (i.e. understand how an insurance company works and makes money, including how this role impacts both Argo Group and our customers' ability to be profitable).
