We are looking for a Manufacturing Custodian to join our Rhinelander, WI Team!
?The Manufacturing Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient working environment in a manufacturing or industrial plant. This role ensures that production areas, common spaces, and surrounding grounds remain in optimal condition, supporting both operational continuity and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Maintain cleanliness of manufacturing areas, including stock rooms, assembly cells, machining areas, shipping/receiving zones, laboratories, and locker rooms
- Follow and adhere to established cleaning schedules for floors, ceilings, ledges, and other surfaces
- Vacuum carpeted areas, sweep and mop hard floors, dust common areas, and clean glass surfaces
- Empty and replace trash can liners, manage waste disposal, and handle hazardous waste as required
- Clean and service restrooms and locker rooms, ensuring sanitation and hygiene standards are met
- Identify and report potential safety hazards, equipment issues, or areas needing cleaning
- Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and report needs to supervisors
- Use appropriate cleaning solutions and equipment, and safety protocols for chemicals and machinery
- Assist in minor maintenance tasks and coordinate with maintenance staff for repairs
- Work independently or as part of a team, following safety guidelines and company procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous custodial or cleaning experience preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; may operate a forklift or man-lift after safety training
- Physical stamina, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced, industrial environment
- Understanding of industrial safety protocols and environmental compliance
- Ability to follow written instructions and work under supervision
- Readiness to gain and obtain a license to operate material handling equipment, specifically to safely manage the emptying of garbage dumpsters from the manufacturing shop floor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Factory or manufacturing plant setting, with regular use of safety glasses and safety shoes (may include noise, heat, or cold)
- May involve exposure to machinery, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
- Requires standing, lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces
- May involve shift work, weekends, or on-call duties
