About the Team

The Enterprise Marketing team helps the world's largest organizations understand, adopt, and scale AI responsibly. We partner closely with Sales, Solutions, Product, Research, Customer Success, Events, Comms, and executive leadership to help customers see what is possible with OpenAI and move from interest to action.

About the Role

Third-party events are one of the most important ways enterprise audiences encounter OpenAI in the market. The Enterprise 3P Events Lead will help us decide which external moments matter, what we need those moments to accomplish, and how to brief and align the teams that bring them to life.

The Enterprise 3P Events Lead will own the third-party events motion for our enterprise segment: building the portfolio strategy, prioritization model, planning rhythms, and operating system across major industry conferences, partner summits, sponsored events, and priority field moments. They will partner closely with Industry Marketing and Field Marketing to understand the audience and GTM opportunity, and with Events as the creative and experiential lead to shape how OpenAI shows up.

The right person has real third-party events experience and can connect sponsorships, field activations, partner moments, executive programs, account priorities, and post-event follow-through into one clear system. They are a strong strategic briefer, a thoughtful cross-functional partner, and an operator who can make a growing portfolio feel focused, intentional, and scalable.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this role, you will:

  • Own the third-party events portfolio, including partner summits, industry events, sponsored conferences, and high-priority external field activations.

  • Build annual and quarterly planning processes that align events to industry priorities, field and sales goals, partner opportunities, account targets, and pipeline needs.

  • Define strategic briefs for priority third-party events, clarifying the audience, business objective, customer opportunity, desired action, and role of the event in the broader enterprise GTM motion.

  • Partner across Field Marketing, Industry Marketing, Events, and key cross-functional teams to translate each brief into the right event presence, follow-up motion, and execution plan.

  • Manage sponsorship strategy, event packages, vendor relationships, agencies, budgets, timelines, staffing models, and onsite execution in partnership with Events.

  • Build scalable playbooks for different event tiers, from major tentpoles to smaller industry moments.

  • Create intake and prioritization criteria so the team can decide which events to support, what level of investment they require, and when to say no.

  • Partner with Marketing Operations to track event performance, pipeline impact, account engagement, meetings, opportunity progression, and post-event conversion.

  • Build and manage the resourcing model needed to execute third-party events consistently and efficiently.

You might thrive in this role if you have:

  • 7+ years of experience in third-party events, strategic events, field events, event marketing, partner events, enterprise marketing, or adjacent B2B GTM roles.

  • Deep experience managing third-party events at scale, including major conferences, sponsorships, partner summits, industry events, and multi-stakeholder field activations.

  • Experience owning large event portfolios with complex budgets, vendors, agencies, executive stakeholders, and cross-functional dependencies.

  • Strong audience and GTM judgment, with the ability to translate business priorities, industry context, and customer needs into clear event briefs.

  • Experience partnering with Field Marketing, Industry Marketing, Events, Product Marketing, Content, demo or technical teams, Comms, Design, Solutions, and Marketing Operations.

  • Strong understanding of how events support pipeline, account progression, partner strategy, executive engagement, customer education, and brand presence.

  • Experience building event playbooks, operating cadences, intake systems, briefing processes, measurement models, and resourcing plans.

  • Evidence of building or scaling a team, agency model, or operating system around events.
