DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on evaluating construction and material practices to support safe and reliable transportation projects. Within this role, your work will be centered around improving quality, solving problems, and guiding statewide construction efforts. As a Transportation Construction Manager 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Quality Evaluation: Review construction materials, processes, and vendor sources to confirm they meet department expectations and are compliant with the Material Certification Program
- Compliance Review: Check contractor and inspection activities for compliance with specifications and project requirements
- Testing Oversight: Verify sampling and testing methods to ensure proper procedures and accurate results
- Corrective Actions: Identify issues, discuss findings, and recommend solutions that improve construction outcomes
- Technical Guidance: Provide training and support to enhance the skills and knowledge of district and industry personnel
- Problem Solving: Investigate and resolve construction and materials issues to support safe, durable projects

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position may be headquartered in a PennDOT district or county office closest to the candidate's current work location or home address if space is available.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the assigned headquarters location. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Transportation Construction Manager 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Five years of experience in construction inspection, three of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity, and graduation from high school or equivalent certification or formal training. Completion of a training program in construction inspection sanctioned by the using agency may be substituted for high school graduation. An Associate Degree in an engineering or closely related technology may be substituted for one year of the required non-supervisory experience; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position also requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.
