What to Expect
You'll work across departments-Finance, Operations, Compliance, Service-to design and deliver systems that keep Tesla's Robotaxi fleet visible, compliant, and operationally ready. We value transparent communication, technical clarity through design docs, and getting things done via the shortest path (no chain-of-command gatekeeping). This is a high-trust, high-accountability environment where you'll have direct impact on Tesla's autonomous mobility mission.

What You'll Do
  • Lead technical architecture and API design for full-stack applications supporting Robotaxi fleet operations
  • Write detailed design documents and technical proposals for cross-departmental review
  • Manage and provide technical guidance and people management to a small team of engineers and product managers
  • Design and implement integrations with upstream systems (vehicle telemetry, scheduling platforms, ERP systems, compliance databases)
  • Collaborate across Finance, Operations, Compliance, and Service organizations to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Build container-orchestrated services (Kubernetes) with focus on reliability, observability, and maintainability
  • Establish technical standards and development practices for the team
  • Balance hands-on contribution with delegation and oversight

What You'll Bring
  • 7+ years building production full-stack applications
  • Strong written communication skills-comfort authoring technical design docs and proposals
  • Experience designing APIs and integration patterns (REST, gRPC, event-driven architectures)
  • Track record managing engineers and product managers in fast-moving environments
  • Ability to learn new languages and frameworks quickly, we value adaptability over specific language expertise
  • Proven success working across organizational boundaries with non-engineering stakeholders
  • Team-first mentality-willingness to prioritize collaboration and velocity over individual technical preferences
  • Container orchestration experience such as Kubernetes or similar platforms
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and creating clarity when requirements conflict
