DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Therapeutic Activities Aide conducts planned sessions of resident activities under the direction of Therapeutic Recreational Services staff that will lead residents of the Delaware Valley Veterans' Home to their highest level of physical, cognitive, and social abilities. In this position, you will perform the following duties:
- Support Programs and Activities: Help plan, organize, schedule, and carry out recreational and educational programs and leisure activities including social parties, games, field trips, clubs, crafts, music, and more
- Create Resident Engagement: Encourage residents to participate in group and individual activities that support socialization, interpersonal relationships, self-respect, self-esteem, and self help
- Help Maintain Safety: Contribute to a safe, clean, and welcoming setting for residents, visitors, volunteers, and staff; notice and report unusual situations and safety concerns immediately
- Transport and Escort Residents: Help residents get to and from programs and activities, move from wheelchairs to bus seats, and support their personal and safety needs while in the activity area
- Manage Supplies: Monitor inventory and submit requests when new equipment and supplies are needed
- Observe Behavior: Document resident participation; notice resident progress, strengths, and needs; share this information and any concerns with supervisors and the multi-disciplinary care team

- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work every other weekend and holidays as scheduled.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months of experience as an Aide Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Six months of work experience providing care to individuals requiring assistance with daily activities; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
