A Brief Overview
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will join the Pulmonary Vein Stenosis (PVS) Program at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, a nationally recognized center dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of children with pulmonary vein stenosis. As part of a highly specialized multidisciplinary team, the NP or PA will contribute to the delivery of comprehensive, patient-centered care for a complex patient population across the continuum of care.

This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with experts in a program that provides innovative therapies, individualized treatment plans, and lifelong disease management. The Nurse Practitioner will support clinical care, care coordination, patient and family education, and other programmatic initiatives while working closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and allied health professionals. The position also provides exposure to ongoing research efforts and clinical advancements aimed at improving outcomes for patients with pulmonary vein stenosis.

What you will do

  • Manage inpatients with pulmonary vein stenosis as a first call consulting service provider (rounding, note writing, communicating with families and medical teams)
  • Provide inpatient consultation on patients with known or suspected PVS
  • Care for PVS patients during their PVS cath or imaging encounters
  • Present inpatients at weekly PVS meeting
  • See urgent PVS clinic add ons
  • Manage inpatient PVS medications
  • Participate in clinical education
  • Participate in clinical research and quality improvement
  • Prepare ICU's for inpatient cath/imaging encounters requiring ICU recovery
  • Communicate with families and providers

Education Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Nursing - Required

Or

  • Bachelor's Degree Physician Assistant - Required
  • Master's Degree Physician Assistant - Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work in an inter-professional team setting with multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to use computer and electronic medical records effectively.
  • Refer to Scope of Practice Document and Clinical Responsibilities Checklist for specific requirements of role.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required
  • Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required and
  • Prescriptive Authority (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - within 3 months - Required and
  • Specialty Certification - as a Nurse Practitioner in area of education/subspecialty. - upon hire - Required

  • Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required and
  • Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants - upon hire - Required

Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
