Parking Regulations Enforcement Officer - Chicago, Illinois

Pay: $17.80/hour

Schedules: Full Time

The Spirit of the Position:

The Parking Enforcement Agent provides operational support by enforcing local parking ordinances, creating, and issuing parking tickets, and resolving customer disputes. Our ideal candidate will pay close attention to detail when inputting information into our handheld ticketing devices, have excellent customer service experience, and be comfortable working outside in the seasonal elements.

Principal Job Duties:


  • Monitor vehicles violating city ordinances and issuing citations in accordance with post regulations by following an assigned route on foot or by bicycle.
  • Bike and/or walk for long periods of time in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Screen for parking placards and permits for special privileges within approved areas.
  • Resolve customer complaints per policies and procedures.
  • Upload a handheld computer to obtain current information required for work daily.
  • Maintain and care for all company-issued equipment.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Education:


  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • General knowledge of streets and directions is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of outdoor work experience is required.
  • Experience operating a bicycle is required.

Experience:

Skills:


  • Ability to handle challenging and, at times, emotionally charged situations.
  • Ability to follow bicycle safety rules and regulations on the road during the day and at night.
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle for work is NOT required.
  • Ability to mitigate and lead others to overcome challenges (Never Ever Give Up Attitude).
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task.
  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and standard business practices.
  • Ability to speak, read, and comprehend the English language.

Physical Demands: - Willingness to work in the elements
- heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.

- Ability to lift, push and pull at least 50-lbs.

- Ability to stand, walk and run for extended periods of time.

- Ability to bend, stoop, squat and lift frequently throughout a shift.
