POSITION SUMMARY: Under direct supervision of Chief of Physics, senior dosimetrist provides comprehensive treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy. Senior dosimetrist also plays a strategic role in the overall organizational restructuring of the dosimetry process and procedures and takes a significant role in distribution of work assignments among the dosimetry team members. The medical dosimetrist is a member of the radiation oncology team who has knowledge of the overall characteristics of radiation oncology treatment machines and equipment, is cognizant of procedures commonly used in in treatment of cancer patients (e.g., 3DCRT, IMRT, VMAT, SRS/SBRT, Brachytherapy) and has the education and expertise necessary to generate radiation dose distributions and dose calculations in collaboration with clinical team. The Department of Radiation Oncology is located on the grounds of Boston Medical Center within the Boston metropolitan area in the Historic South End. The Department has two Varian TrueBeams along with a dedicated Cyberknife SRS-SBRT unit. Department also offers HDR Brachytherapy services with a Varian Bravos afterloader. Imaging unit includes a Philips Brilliance Big Bore CT Simulator. Treatment planning systems include Eclipse (18.0), Precision (for CKnife) and BrachyVision supported by a widely deployed Mim Maestro contouring and image registration system. ARIA information system (18.0) is utilized in a fully paperless electronic environment. RadFormation products (ClearCheck, ClearCalc, EZFluence, and AutoContour) are being used daily for automation and standardization. Depending on the right candidate's qualifications, the position can be at a senior or staff dosimetrist level. Senior position requires an active CMD with significant clinical experience while we may also consider a recent graduate on track to be certified (CMD-eligible) for the staff position. Compensation Range: $56,000.00- $78,500.00This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications.
