SUMMARY OF POSITION We're looking for a Concrete Foreman and Concrete Finishers to join our growing team. The Concrete Foreman will report to the General Superintendent and should have 2+ years of experience in concrete work, with a focus on sidewalks, ADA ramps, and small flatwork. This role requires the ability to read blueprints and manage job sites efficiently. Concrete Finishers should have hands-on experience placing, smoothing, and finishing concrete for sidewalks, ADA ramps, and minor flatwork using a variety of hand and power tools. All positions will work on job sites throughout Central PA and Northern MD. Please note that this position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with Kinsley Construction policies and procedures. TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS CONCRETE FOREMAN
- Check forms to ensure they are properly set for sidewalks, ADA ramps, and small flatwork.
- Set and align forms to the required grade, pitch, and depth.
- Install reinforcing rebar or wire mesh as needed.
- Place, spread, level, and finish concrete using hand and power tools (screeds, floats, and trowels).
- Form and finish edges, joints, and surfaces to meet ADA and project specifications.
- Apply curing and sealing compounds as needed.
- Follow all safety guidelines and jobsite procedures.
- Interpret blueprints and project plans.
- Plan and coordinate materials, tools, and equipment for daily work.
- Responsible for completing daily timesheets and maintaining daily logs.
- Effectively lead, manage and motivate crews of 5 to 6 individuals.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
CONCRETE FINISHERS
- Check the forms that hold the concrete to see that they are properly constructed
- Set the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth and align them
- Install reinforcing rebar or mesh wire to strengthen the concrete
- Spread, level and smooth concrete using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed and float
- Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affects the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process to ensure a durable, smooth and uniform finish
- Produce rough concrete surface using broom
- Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers and straightedge
- Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete and move chute to direct concrete.
- Operate power vibrator to compact concrete.
- Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required
REQUIREMENTS
- For Foreman role: Lead, direct, and support crew members by setting expectations, coordinating daily work, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to quality standards.
- Perform physically demanding work including lifting, climbing, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
- Use hands and arms to handle, install, position, and manipulate materials and tools.
- Follow oral and written instructions and carry out tasks safely and efficiently.
- Work effectively with others and maintain positive working relationships on the job site.
- Perform manual labor for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
- Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Maintain reliable transportation to and from assigned job sites.
- Be dependable-arrive on time each day, prepared with the tools needed to complete quality work.
