Description This position is a key position is the Department of Operating Room Service. The Central Sterile Supervisor of the Surgical Processing division requires outstanding communication and critical thinking skills. Incumbent has a strong clinical background to assist training of staff to perform duties as a Surgical Processing Technician to include: decontamination and/or processing of equipment and instrumentation, and distribution of supplies or equipment, as assigned within UCLA Healthcare. Orients, supervises and evaluates Surgical Processing Instrument Technicians. Other major duties include, but are not limited to, customer service and departmental efficiencies. Able to maintain, prioritize, and expedite work flow. Works with Clinical Educator to conduct orientation, training programs, and staff development. Qualifications We're seeking a highly-skilled, self-motivated professional with: Minimum 5 years experience in sterile processing or operating room. Degree preferred Certification preferred BLS certification required Ability to lift surgical trays weighing up to 25lbs, handle surgical case carts weighing up to 200lbs. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Working knowledge of aseptic technique, sterile fields and the principles of an Operating Room decontamination Demonstrated skills in proper maintenance and cleaning of instrumentation. Correct use of various decontamination equipment and instrument/tray sterilizers. Working knowledge of bacteriology and medical terminology preferred. Oral and written skills to collect and relay information accurately. Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with all staff. Skill in performing calmly during emergent and /or stressful situations by taking an appropriate action. Skill in working as part of a team. Ability in the correct usage of proper English grammar and vocabulary to orient and train team members.
