The Associate Director of Housing Operations and Facilities at Davidson College is a full-time, twelve-month, salaried position reporting to the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Residence Life. The Associate Director plays a critical leadership role in advancing Davidson's residential experience by ensuring efficient, student-centered housing operations, facilities coordination, access management, occupancy processes, and service delivery for the College's residential population. The position serves as a primary liaison between Residence Life, Facilities, Technology & Innovation, Campus Police, CatCard Services, Student Accounts, and other campus partners. Budget, Planning, and Vendor Coordination
- Support Residence Life budget planning, operational forecasting, purchasing, billing, and resource allocation related to housing operations.
- Assist with annual operating, capital, and revenue budget planning for residence life and housing operations.
- Prepare reports, projections, and analyses related to occupancy, housing revenue, room rate implications, furniture needs, and operational costs.
- Coordinate purchasing, inventory, replacement cycles, and vendor relationships related to residence hall furniture, supplies, access needs, and operational services.
- Support capital project requests and long-term planning for residence hall improvements.
Housing Operations and Occupancy Management
- Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight for housing operations serving Davidson's residential student population in collaboration with the housing operations team.
- Develop and maintain clear policies, procedures, timelines, and communications related to housing operations.
- Partner with the Residence Education team to ensure housing processes are student-centered, timely, equitable, and aligned with the College's residential model.
Housing Systems and Data Management
- Provide leadership, supervision, and strategic oversight for housing management systems, including StarRez and other housing operations platforms.
- In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Housing Operations, ensure effective system utilization, data integrity, operational efficiency, and alignment with departmental and institutional goals.
- Identify opportunities to improve housing technology, streamline workflows, and enhance the student experience.
- Ensure the accuracy, security, and appropriate stewardship of housing-related data in compliance with institutional policies and applicable regulations.
Facilities, Access, and Residential Space Coordination
- Serve as a primary liaison between Residence Life and Facilities regarding residence hall maintenance, custodial needs, preventative maintenance, emergency response, furniture replacement, and capital improvement projects within the residence life portfolio.
- Partner with Facilities and campus project managers on residence hall and apartment renovation planning, timelines, furniture delivery, student occupancy needs, and communication to affected students.
- Support long-range planning for residential spaces, including deferred maintenance, furniture replacement cycles, building needs, and operational improvements.
Customer Service and Student Support
- In collaboration with the Assistant Dean and Director, provide strategic oversight for housing-related customer service across Residence Life, including central office operations, student inquiries, parent/family questions, and campus partner communication.
- Develop service standards, response expectations, training materials, and quality assurance practices for housing operations.
- Maintain a student-centered approach while balancing institutional needs, policy consistency, and operational limitations.
Assessment, Compliance, and Continuous Improvement
- Support departmental assessment efforts related to housing operations, service delivery, occupancy management, and student satisfaction.
- Ensure housing operations comply with College policies and relevant federal, state, and local requirements, including FERPA, ADA, Title IX, Clery Act, fire safety expectations, and accessibility standards.
- Use assessment findings, student feedback, and operational data to recommend improvements to the residential experience.
Supervision and Leadership
- Supervise the Assistant Director of Residence Life Operations and provide leadership for the operations team.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, service-oriented team culture.
- Serve in the administrator on-call rotation.

Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, Education, Management Information Systems, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of full-time, post-master's experience in housing, residence life, student affairs, housing operations, or a related administrative area.
- Experience working with housing management systems, database systems, or student information systems; experience with StarRez strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with budget, facilities, housing operations, occupancy management, facilities coordination, access processes, customer service, or residential administration.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, staff, faculty, and campus partners.
- Knowledge of FERPA, ADA, Title IX, Clery Act, and other relevant compliance standards.
- Ability to respond to urgent and sensitive situations with discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a residential life or housing operations leadership role.
- Experience with StarRez or a comparable housing management platform.
- Experience with access control systems, key management, CatCard systems, or related residential security processes.
