Position summary:

The Specialist Gas Control I will develop and maintain a working knowledge of the Black Hills Energy distribution and transmission pipeline systems and will be responsible for monitoring and controlling these systems to optimize pipeline operations.

Pay Range: This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
Level I: $23.39 - $35.24 per hour
Level II: $28.75 - $43.17 per hour
Senior: $35.58 - $53.49 per hour

Reporting Relationship: Gas Control Supervisor

Location: Fayetteville, Arkansas

Essential Functions:
* Monitor and Control Black Hills Energy distribution and transmission pipeline systems through utilization of the SCADA system.
* Work closely with Field Operations and Gas Supply teams as well as third party suppliers in order to ensure system reliability and optimization of pipeline throughput.
* Monitor and control pipeline pressures within design criteria and monitor gas quality at various points.
* Work with Field Operations and SCADA teams to troubleshoot communications, SCADA, control valves or other equipment related issues. Coordination with these teams will also be necessary during equipment or pipeline outages.
* Use SCADA system to make changes to field equipment remotely. This could include regulators, valves, pumps, and compressors.
* Must maintain Control Room Management (CRM) compliance and complete related documentation. Properly document situations and events throughout the shift using checklists, operating sheets, and shift change reports.
* Prepare and distribute daily operating plans based on forecast modeling and historical planning for the pipeline systems.
* Controller must be able to quickly detect abnormal and emergency operating conditions, use critical judgement and react accordingly in a short period of time. Assume a leading role during all emergency situations that may occur on the pipeline.
* Must complete the training and Operator Qualification Program as required and maintain qualifications through ongoing training and utilization of the gas pipeline simulator.

Additional Responsibilities:
* Must be able to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, which includes holidays, weekends, night shifts, day shifts and overtime with minimal time away from console during shift.
* Will need to assist in covering shifts when necessary.

What Is Required:
Level I:
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* No experience required.
Level II:
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Minimum of two years of related experience.
Senior:
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Minimum of four years of related experience.

* Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
* Strong verbal and written skills.
* Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
