Overview Con Edison, a multibillion-dollar energy utility, is leading the clean energy transition in New York City and Westchester County. We are investing hundreds of millions of dollars annually to integrate distributed resources into our electric and gas systems, support electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and scale adoption of energy efficiency and clean heating technologies across our customers. The Distribution System Innovative Planning and Analytics (DPA) team is at the core of the Con Edison strategic vision to help New York State achieve its Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act (CLCPA) goals and evolve the distribution grid to meet new energy demands while keeping costs affordable for customers. The Sr Specialist will be part of a team guiding the development of a comprehensive, proactive, and risk-adjusted distribution load relief planning strategy through analytics. Responsibilities include helping to develop forecasts and forecast tools of energy efficiency in the electric, gas and steam systems, projecting the spread and demand effects of energy efficiency technologies in Con Edisons service territory, flexible demand resources and customer program effects on area stations and the electric distribution system; and improving data resources and analysis tools available to the group. Through this role, the Sr Specialist will inform business decisions through data-driven analytical work and will support implementation of new and existing grid planning processes in coordination with engineering, forecasting, and customer program teams across the Company. Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Perform analyses and develop analytical tools in support of energy efficiency and demand forecasts for electric, gas and steam.
- Support forecasting needs across the company (Commodity Forecasting, Transmission Planning, Strategic Planning, Customer Clean Energy Solutions, etc.) on the prospects and impacts of programmatic and non-programmatic energy efficiency.
- Collect and manage data from internal and public sources on Con Edisons service territory and customer base, and on energy efficiency technologies and measures.
- Work with cross-departmental teams and integrate datasets to produce analytical insights for distribution and area station planning needs.
- Develop and maintain models and automated tools in Excel and other analytical software; support the sections energy efficiency model.
- Support the Area Station Analytics section in its development of proactive, risk-adjusted and cost effective planning strategies.
- Prepare documentation of methodologies, processes, and results in slide decks, process documents, job aids, and email communications.
- Develop reports, slides, and data visualizations to communicate key findings to management and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Economics, Information Technology, Business, Environmental Studies, or related field and 3 years of relevant work experience. or
- Master's Degree in Engineering, Science, Economics, Information Technology, Business, Environmental Studies, or related field and 2 years of relevant work experience.
Relevant Work Experience
- Strong analytical skills and experience in gathering and interpreting data, required.
- Strong knowledge of business software tools such as MS Office, and proficiency in business and data analytics tools such as Excel, PowerBI or Tableau, etc., required.
- Good communication, negotiation, and organizational skills and accountability, required.
- Appreciation of useful and elegant uses of data to answer questions and solve problems; interest and curiosity in learning new analytical tools, required.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities. Provide exemplary customer service to supporting teams and organizations, required.

- Proficiency in geographic information systems such as ArcGIS, preferred.
- Experience with AMI data and big data tools, preferred.
- Proficiency in Python, preferred.
- Relevant work experience, including technical knowledge of Con Edison's electrical system, energy storage systems, project management, and construction, preferred.
- Relevant experience and knowledge on forecasting, demand management programs, and capital deferment mechanisms, preferred.
- Strong research skills, including the ability to design and implement research projects using large datasets and to bring academic and external research into projects, preferred.

- Must be able to travel to various company locations as needed.
