Job Summary

The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and managing the efficient movement of equipment, and/or shipments. This role serves as a central communication hub, ensuring timely scheduling, real-time issue resolution, and effective communication between drivers, partner carriers, operations teams, and customers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and schedules all loads and coordinates with sales and production.

  • Coordinates proper loading and shipping order with Shipping and Receiving personnel.

  • Manages loads to be shipped with partner carriers

  • Determines mode of transportation and selects appropriate carrier.

  • Negotiate rates and contracts for transportation services.

  • Coordinates routing of orders, and dispatches carrier with orders and appropriate delivery instructions consistent with customer receiving times.

  • Verify delivery appointments and loading times for each carrier.

  • Answers questions and resolves supplier and customer problems regarding transportation issues.

  • Documents any shortage on orders, investigates reasons for occurrence and informs carrier of shortage to get compensation or to resolve issue with customer with assistance of sales.

  • Responsible for managing and filing all transportation-related accident claims with carrier partners.

  • Takes and acts upon all calls for tracing and/or expediting orders, working with the appropriate team members.

  • Prepares various reports and correspondence as required.

  • Validates quantities on bill of ladings with load sheets

  • Confirms readiness of all loads & builds into template to load to Transportation Management System (TMS)

  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

  • High school diploma

  • Minimum 2 to 4 years of experience in the field or related area 5 years preferred.

  • Working knowledge of standard DOT concepts, regulations, practices and procedures.

  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Basic knowledge on lumber math, lumber grades and species.

  • Preferred understanding on company policies, practices and procedures.
