Position Summary

The Field Service Technician is responsible for the repair, overhaul, testing, installation, and maintenance of low-, medium-, and high-voltage power transformers and related electrical equipment. This role performs both shop-based and field service work, supporting customer facilities throughout the Northeast region. The ideal candidate is a hands-on electrical professional with strong transformer experience, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently or lead field crews.

Key Responsibilities


  • Perform repairs, upgrades, maintenance, and overhauls on power transformers ranging from 480V to 765kV.
  • Support field testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical power distribution equipment.
  • Lead or assist with transformer installations, inspections, and outage-related projects.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams to resolve technical issues and ensure successful project execution.
  • Complete service reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and operational procedures.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Electrical Technology or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in transformer installation, maintenance, testing, and repair.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a lead technician, crew lead, or supervisory role preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical power systems and transformer operations.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel overnight as needed and work overtime and weekends during outage seasons.
