Introduction

The Department of Finance & Procurement is responsible for ensuring that the county's financial management and accounting systems are maintained appropriately and that county agencies and the public receive information in a timely manner. The Division of Accounting, Finance and Operations manages internal auditing and compliance, financial accounting, financial and budgetary reporting, internal controls, payroll, and accounts payable.


Job Summary

The Division of Accounting, Finance and Operations is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical individual to join our team as a Payroll Accounting Technician. This is a regular, full-time position. The Payroll Accounting Technician will report to the Payroll Supervisor and will be responsible for auditing, reviewing and monitoring time records within Oracle's Time and Labor module. They will send biweekly audit reports to departments, key department corrections into Oracle, review paychecks for correct tax and benefit deductions, process employment verifications and respond to employee and vendor inquires. Additional responsibilities include researching, collaborating cross departmentally on payroll issues, and preparing work papers and analysis to support the annual audit and required tax filings, and contributing to other department areas as needed or assigned.

Collaboration is key, as this position will work closely with a variety of team members to achieve common goals. The ability to cultivate relationships, both internally and externally, will drive success in this role. Critical thinking is crucial for this position, enabling the evaluation of complex situations, problem-solving, and making well-informed decisions. This is a hybrid position with some telework opportunities.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.


Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of accounting or finance related work experience is required, preferably in a government accounting setting. Experience working with a major ERP system such as Oracle is preferred.
