The Ohio Turnpike & Infrastructure Commission is seeking a Toll Plaza Supervisor to work in our Toll Operations Department at the Exit 173 Interchange (Cleveland). If you are interested in working with us, here is some of what we can offer you:

Job Duties
- Assist Toll Plaza Supervisor in the everyday operations of the toll plaza(s);
- Assist Toll Plaza Supervisor with scheduling toll plaza personnel, overseeing staff, electronic and automated, toll collection, servicing, flushing and replenishing all ATPM and DATIM operations, inclusive of 24/7 remote monitoring of multiple toll plaza(s).
- Maintaining field employee records.
- Address employee concerns; evaluates job performance of toll collector staff.
- Order necessary uniform items and toll plaza supplies.
- Provide training of employees and the necessary daily instruction to maintain and/or improve employee performance.
- Ensure that all procedures are followed pursuant to toll operations protocol.
- Issue discipline to employees. Follow collective bargaining agreement; in absence of Toll Plaza Supervisor, acts as Commission representative in departmental Step 1 grievances.
- Respond to emergency situations involving the toll plaza, the staff and Ohio Turnpike customers (e.g., contacts maintenance personnel, requests emergency assistance from law enforcement officers and emergency medical assistance from local fire departments).
- Assist in performing traffic control tasks which may include flagging traffic, maintaining traffic cones and barrels, and measuring vehicles to ensure that legal vehicle dimensions are not exceeded.
- May be required to work the toll lanes (e.g., during relief periods, circumstances requiring customer intervention, emergency situations).
- May be required to spread salt on sidewalks and/or assist with snow removal in inclement weather.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Toll Plaza Supervisor.
Major Worker Characteristics
- Knowledge of toll plaza operations; employee training and development; basic organization and operation of state and local government*; Ohio Turnpike Commission policies and procedures*; labor relations; and contract administration.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Prepare and maintain accurate and concise reports and records.
- Handle routine and/or sensitive inquiries and communications with government and legislative officials, business representatives and/or general public, exercising professionalism, discretion and sound judgment.

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED with business background (e.g., college courses, seminars and/or business/management exposure).
- Prior field experience and working knowledge of toll plaza operations required.
External candidates will only be considered if possessing recent relevant Supervisory/Management experience as well as cash handling experience. Labor Management experience a plus.

Unusual Working Conditions Must be accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. May be required to adjust work schedule on short notice. May require daily travel Must be able to meet the demands of an unpredictable field environment (e.g., responding to emergency situations; driving long distances; being able to lift or move at least 40 pounds; work-varying schedules).
