Responsible for advancing the university's public image and reputation by assisting in routine media engagement and outreach activities to actively engage with media outlets, secure impactful coverage, and promote the university's stories, achievements, and expertise.

 

Job Description:

Through the creation of dynamic media and digital storytelling, this role will support the Learning Enterprise mission to provide access to social and economic opportunity at every stage of life. The ideal candidate will have foundational experience in video production, digital media, and creative storytelling, and will contribute to the development of engaging educational and promotional content that supports learners across Learning Enterprise Learning Design initiatives, including Universal Learner Courses (ULC) and Career and Professional Learning (CPL).  As needed, this role will also support videography, editing, and media production needs across the broader Learning Enterprise, including content created for marketing, promotion, and communications.

 

This role will work under the guidance of senior creative services and learning design staff to assist with media production, editing, asset management, and studio support across multiple learning experiences and delivery modalities.

 

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. This is an at-will position. As an at-will employee, you and ASU are entitled to terminate the employment relationship at any time and for any reason except an unlawful one.

 

This role is based at ASU’s Tempe campus. A fingerprint background check is a mandatory step in the hiring process. ASU will not sponsor this position; the applicant must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

 

Position Salary Range:

$50,000-$56,000 per year, DOE

 

Essential Duties:

Working directly with Learning Enterprise Learning Design teams, instructional designers, faculty, and senior creative services staff, you will have the following duties.

 

Technical

·         Assist with the creation of educational media and promotional materials supporting Learning Enterprise course initiatives and deliverables

·         Support video and audio production activities including equipment setup, lighting, camera operation, and basic audio capture

·         Assist with scheduling filming sessions, preparing equipment, and organizing production logistics

·         Edit video and audio content using established templates and production standards

·         Support post-production workflows including media ingestion, editing rough cuts, keying green screen footage, caption integration, file exports, and media organization

·         Capture b-roll, interviews, studio recordings, and instructional content under the direction of senior production staff

·         Maintain quality standards for video, audio, and visual presentation across projects

·         Collaborate with instructional designers and faculty to support media needs for online learning experiences

·         Assist with implementation of graphics, text overlays, and simple motion graphics when needed

·         Adapt media deliverables based on feedback from instructional design teams and stakeholders

·         Produce and edit video and media content for marketing, promotion, and communications efforts across Learning Enterprise as needed

 

Learning Design

·         Support the production of online classroom content designed to engage learners

·         Collaborate with instructional designers during pre-production planning to align media with course learning goals

·         Assist with preparation of filming materials including scripts, interview questions, presentation assets, and shot lists

·         Support faculty and on-camera talent during filming sessions to ensure a positive and organized production experience

·         Contribute ideas for visual storytelling approaches that enhance learner engagement and accessibility

·         Communicate project progress, resource needs, and production challenges with project leads and senior team members

·         Follow standards for creating media that is accessible to a variety of learners’ needs

 

Administrative

·         Maintain accurate records and logs of production activities and media assets

·         Organize and maintain storage of completed media files and production resources

·         Support media distribution processes for instructional design teams and learning platforms

·         Assist with transcription, captioning, and accessibility workflows for media content

·         Help maintain studio spaces, production equipment, and media inventory

·         Participate in meetings and collaborative planning activities related to video production and media operations

Desired Qualifications:

·         Ability to work collaboratively while developing independent judgment and problem-solving skills

·         Foundational experience with Adobe Creative Cloud products including:

·         Premiere Pro: basic video editing, sequence assembly, audio adjustment, and export workflows

·         Photoshop: basic image editing and thumbnail creation

·         After Effects: familiarity with simple motion graphics workflows

·         Audition: basic audio cleanup and editing

·         Familiarity with DSLR or mirrorless camera operation and basic lighting techniques

·         Interest in storytelling, educational media, and learner-centered content development

·         Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines in a collaborative environment

·         Strong communication and organizational skills

·         Willingness to learn new production technologies, workflows, and educational design concepts

·         Ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.

·         Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.

 

Working Environment:

·         Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.

·         Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.

·         May be required to perform tasks in the field within and/or across University campuses.
