Location: Lakewood, Washington (Joint Base Lewis McCord)

Type: Exempt

Work Schedule: Full Time

Compensation: $80,070-$92,000 DOE

The Janitorial Assistant Site Manager is responsible for supporting Tessera's JBLM Janitorial operations to facilitate a smooth flow of services ensuring strong representation and communication among employees and government personnel. The Janitorial Assistant Site Manager provides strategic and administrative support to the Site Manager and is accountable for the effective development, delivery, and execution of all operational functions that contribute to the achievement of the organization's mission and goals.

Core Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strong understanding of AbilityOne and SourceAmerica programs.

  • Uphold and embody Tessera's core values.

  • Align team goals with Tessera's value proposition, ensuring highly engaged employee contribute to customer satisfaction.

  • Identify and mitigate safety hazards on job sites through effective risk controls and utilize activity Hazard Analysis (AHA).

  • Conduct root cause analyses to promote a safe working environment and maintain adherence to Tessera's Accident Reporting process.

  • Foster positive client interactions using effective interpersonal skills, demonstrating respect, empathy, and responsiveness.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Fully supports Tessera's mission of Providing Opportunities to People with Disabilities. Actively partners with Tessera's recruiters, vocational specialists, HR Partners, and Workforce Development teams to attract, retain, and develop a diverse employee workforce.

  • Drives a world-class safety culture through leadership engagement, safety risk management, safety assurance and safety training and promotion. Model positive safety leadership behaviors.

  • Strong employee relations skills including servant leadership. building morale, communication, providing feedback, and conflict resolution. Collaborates with HR and Vocational staff. Competent in the timely and effective use of employee relations tools and processes.

  • Mentors, motivates and inspires your teams to operate with a "can do, will do" attitude.

  • Maintains a visible, hands-on leadership presence by routinely checking on employees while work is performed, leading by example, and assisting operationally when staffing levels require.

  • Support staff in utilizing tuition assistance program for skills training and certification programs.

  • Support the site reliability program to extend asset life and reduce breakdowns. Drive an asset ownership culture, expand/improve planned maintenance, leverage predictive tools, and enable key processes such as root cause analysis and preventative maintenance (PM) optimization.

  • Focused on continual process improvement, "balanced excellence" of site performance metrics, and combatting operational complacency.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a visible, hands-on leadership presence by routinely checking on employees while work is performed, leading by example, and assisting operationally when staffing levels require.

  • Responsible for the smooth running of all JBLM Janitorial functions in the absence of the Project Manager.

  • Responsible for following all contract guidelines and regulations.

  • Coordinating assignments with all Supervisors and leads and coordinate backups if needed.

  • Ensure work environment follows contract requirements.

  • Ensure quality and safety practices and policies are followed and meet contract requirements.

  • Makes decisions and exercises independent judgement within generally established procedures and practices.

  • Schedules routes to ensure adequate service and adjust schedules when necessary.

  • Counsels and trains employees.

  • Conducts investigations, resolves personnel issues and problems.

  • Ensures on-the-job training and orientation is completed on all new employees.

  • Evaluates employee performance as required.

  • Responsible for various reports, to include schedules, training, attendance, evaluations, various employee documents, correct time keeping, accident reports, etc.

  • Works with Vocational staff in development and monitoring of individual evaluations, assessments, and/or training programs

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience in management role preferably janitorial

  • Associates in Business Management

  • Equivalent combination of experience and education

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.

  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.

  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

  • A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance.
