Geotechnical Team Leader

Responsibilities

The Team Leader is responsible for leading and managing a team of technicians and staff professionals to ensure the successful execution of geotechnical services. This role oversees daily operations, including scheduling, staffing, training, and quality control, while supporting project delivery and financial performance. The Team Leader serves as the primary leader for field staff, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently while maintaining a positive customer service attitude and demonstrating ECS Core Values.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of geotechnical technicians and support staff
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the geotechnical team
  • Coordinate project assignments, staffing, and workload distribution
  • Ensure projects are staffed appropriately and delivered on schedule
  • Review and oversee geotechnical reports, analyses, and recommendations
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members
  • Communicate with project managers, clients, and contractors
  • Support subsurface investigation planning and execution
  • Oversee data interpretation and development of engineering recommendations
  • Participate in project meetings and client interactions
  • Support proposal preparation and business development activities
  • Maintain organization and efficiency within team operations
  • Perform geotechnical analysis and field oversight as needed
  • Perform additional technical and leadership duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years of related experience
  • High school diploma or GED required
    • Bachelor's and/or Master's of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Materials Science Engineering, Geology, or related field is preferred
  • A Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Professional Geologist (P.G.) is preferred
  • If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required
  • Strong professional communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical principles and standards
  • Ability to evaluate engineering data and design recommendations
  • Strong organizational and operational management skills
  • Ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with electronic devices and MS Office
  • Knowledge of company systems, procedures, and workflows
  • Ability to coordinate field activities and staffing effectively
  • Must be able to occasionally lift a minimum of 85 pounds
  • Knowledge of ECS systems and procedures is a plus
