DESCRIPTION

In accordance with advanced practice standards, the Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible for providing comprehensive health assessment of patients receiving radiation oncology services. The PA is responsible for conducting in-depth interviews with patients and/or family; constructing comprehensive medical histories, performing initial and periodic physical examinations; reviewing imaging; managing the care of patients; following standardized advanced practice procedure guideline; assessing and providing medical care as appropriate for patient care populations; collaborating with attending physician, to utilize context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. Assignments at this level primarily encompass management of patients who present chronic and/or episodic health problems; and may include responsibility for occasional community teaching programs, participation in program planning and development of patient education information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate from a physician assistant program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).

  • California Physician Assistant (PA) license.

  • Current PA Certification from NCCPA.

  • Current ART certification, or BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • A minimum of one (1) year of recent work experience as a licensed Physician Assistant.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand the medical as well as psychosocial needs of a patient population with cancer.

  • A high level of professionalism and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to function as part of an interdisciplinary team.

  • Excellent assessment skills and ability to make clinically sound decisions in a fast paced constantly changing environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in quality improvement.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Must be able to obtain UCSD Medical Staff privileges and maintain during employment. Due to advanced practice credentialing eligibility, clinical advanced practice experience must be within the last two years.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $170,652 - $224,815 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $81.73 - $107.67

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
