Apply for Job Job ID 60518 Location UMKC Volker Campus Full/Part Time Full-Time Add to Favorite Jobs Email this Job Hiring Department New Student Orientation Job Description The New Student Orientation (NSO) Coordinator position supports the successful transition of new students and their families to UMKC through orientation and other onboarding experiences. This position advances the university's enrollment, retention and student success goals by coordinating orientation and transition programs that connect incoming student with campus resources, foster a sense of belonging, and prepare students for academic success. The NSO Coordinator will collaborate with academic and administrative partners across campus to deliver engaging, student-centered programs that enhance the new student experience. Key Responsibilities Orientation Program Planning and Operations Assist the NSO Director with the planning and implementation of orientation programs for domestic first-time college students, transfer students, and their supporters. Assist in managing logistics including event schedules, room reservations, catering, signage, materials, accessibility accommodations, and the check-in process. Orientation Leader (OL) Recruitment, Training and Supervision Coordinate the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, supervision, and evaluation of OLs and Senior OLs. Develop and facilitate Orientation Leader Academy in May to prepare the OL's for the upcoming season. Provide ongoing coaching, leadership development, and performance management for student staff Manage payroll approval, scheduling, and student employment processes. Orientation Systems and Technology Management Maintain and update orientation-related systems and resources, including the New Student Orientation Module in Canvas, Guidebook (Guide to UMKC), and communication and event templates within Slate. Monitor registration data and ensure accurate student records across multiple systems. Outreach and Customer Service Communicate with incoming students and their families regarding orientation registration and next steps in the enrollment process. Respond to inquiries via phone, email and virtual inquiries while providing excellent customer service. Coordinate pre and post-orientation communications using Slate and Cadence. Day Of Logistics for Staff/Volunteers Coordinate logistical and operational aspects of orientation programs, including preparation of materials, staff resources, and volunteer support. Assist with day-of-program execution to ensure a positive and seamless experience for students, families, faculty, staff, and campus partners. Jump Into UMKC Planning Committee Serve as an active member of the Jump Into UMKC planning committee to develop and implement the transition program that leads into Roo Welcome. Communications Assist in managing NSO's online presence by managing the information on our website, and creating content to post on social media platforms. Additional Responsibilities Assist with special projects and university events that support enrollment and student success. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling or a related field Experience supervising or advising student employees, volunteers, or peer leaders Experience with Slate CRM, Canvas, Guidebook or similar technologies Experience coordinating large scale or orientation events Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and project management skills Anticipated Hiring Range The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as up to $55,000 annually. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
