The College of Business ( COB) has been AACSB accredited for over 40 years. We offer BSBA, MBA, and MSA degrees and our School of Hospitality Management offers both a BS in Hospitality Management and an MS in Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality. Additionally, the Miller School of Entrepreneurship offers a BS in Entrepreneurship. We are one of the largest Colleges of Business in the state with approximately 4,200 undergraduate and 900 graduate students. To date, the COB has approximately 150 faculty members of the highest caliber, skilled in the scholarship of research, teaching, and application of knowledge. The yearly income associated with this professorship can be used a) as salary supplement for the holder, b) travel and research expenses associated with his or her professional responsibilities, c) supplies needed to support the teaching, research, and service activities of the distinguished professor. All expenses are subject to pre-approval by the administration.

The College of Business is seeking applicants for the Robert Dillard Teer Professorship in Business beginning October 2026. The candidate will participate and lead seminars, workshops, and other consulting services to the leaders and managers in the eastern North Carolina. In addition, the candidate will serve as a principle investigator, and researcher in projects that are of service to the university, community, and region. The candidate will work with faculty across the College and serve as a source of expertise and consultation on various projects, including coauthoring sponsored activity proposals and applied and academic publications. The candidate selected for the professorship will have an emphasis of developing junior faculty, especially in the formative stages of their career. The candidate will utilize their experience to inspire, instruct, and assist in activities that will enrich teaching, develop research, and engage in service for junior faculty in the COB. Specifically, the candidate will have a record of research and the results of this will be seen in the form of publications and other scholarship. The candidate will be an Associate Professor or Professor. The initial appointment to the professorship will be for 3 years.

Only current full-time members who are tenured and hold the rank of Professor or Associate Professor (excluding those whose primary responsibilities are in administration) in the College of Business are eligible for this professorship. The person appointed shall have a terminal degree in a business-related field or a related degree from an appropriately accredited institution that satisfies ECU credentialing guidelines; have an established record of publication and evidence of the ability to develop, implement, and maintain a significant, continuous stream of research in their field; evidence of mentoring faculty and evidence of working with community partners.
