THE POSITION

Join the Department of Corrections at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill as a Clerical Assistant 2. This position offers a chance to support a busy records office that keeps important information organized and accessible. You will contribute to smooth daily operations by helping manage documents, communication, and schedules. This job is well suited for someone who values accuracy, teamwork, and steady office responsibilities.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position helps keep the records office running efficiently by supporting daily communication, documentation, and organizational needs. The role ensures that important records and office activities are handled with accuracy and care. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Filing Systems: Maintain filing systems, organize bus files, and complete end of year archiving
  • Record Coordination: Compile office activity records, coordinate workflow, and enter required data
  • Document Review: Type documents and correspondences and review them for grammar, spelling, and numerical accuracy
  • Communication Support: Answer and direct calls, record messages, respond to inquiries, and process mail
  • Scheduling Tasks: Organize appointments, meetings, and videoconferences and take minutes when needed
  • General Office Work: Perform scanning, faxing, photocopying, email organization, and general office upkeep

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:
  • Must possess keyboarding skills to meet standards for speed and accuracy.

Additional Requirements:
  • Must understand how to efficiently use and navigate a PC.
  • Must have the ability to work with various office equipment such as: scanner, printer, fax machine, computer, tablet, telephone, personal communication devices etc.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions

Preferred Qualifications (not required):
  • Able to stand and operate document scanning machines

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
