Position Title: Quality Final Inspector

Position Summary: Final Inspectors are responsible for supporting source visits, assembling and reviewing final certification packages and verifying final product prior to release for shipment. Final Inspectors are essential in preventing escapes, ensuring contractual and regulatory compliance, and protecting both the customer and the business.

Reports To: Quality Inspection Team Leader

Personnel: N/A

Accountabilities: Zero preventable escapes; reliable defect detection with appropriate accept/reject decisions. Complete, accurate, audit-ready inspection records and data packages. Timely assembly and verification of customer-ready documentation. Correct execution of Final Inspection Checklist and Green Tag acceptance workflow.

Authorities: Authority to accept or reject product based on final inspection results and requirements completion. Authority to complete and sign the Inspector section of the Green Tag; to hold parts for rework until compliant. Authority to request/perform additional inspections (dimensional, visual, functional) as required by customer specifications

Duties:

• Follow assignment and prioritization direction via the Priority Dispatch List (PDL) for Final Inspection resource IDs.
• Verify completion of all quality requirements prior to acceptance, including PO, drawings, design outputs, IDCs, manufacturing routing, and Quality Program tabs (System Requirements, Other Requirements, Data Package, Additional Docs, Nonconformances, Final Inspection Checklist).
• Perform final dimensional, visual, and functional inspections per customer specifications and QA-WI-006; use video scope for inaccessible features; verify cleanliness and FOD-free condition.
• Record inspection evidence accurately (IDCs, forms); capture photos/videos of product condition and markings for QAP Additional Docs.
• Enter Certificate of Conformance and Cover Sheet data into the QAP program post-acceptance; ensure documentation completeness.
• Assemble and review the final data package (Cover Sheet, ToC, CoC, material/sublet certs, NDT/NDE certs, IDCs, customer-submitted docs) for completeness, correctness, traceability, and alignment with requirements.
• Execute the Green Tag process: complete Inspector section, place tag with the part, close final inspection operation, notify Quality Management and CFT for review, and stage for Shipping after all required signatures (Inspector, Quality Management, CFT).
• Support ASME/nuclear requirements as applicable, including acceptance documentation and coordination of AI/ANI approvals with Quality leadership.

Job Qualification Requirements:

• Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings/specifications.
• Proficiency with inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gages, comparators, etc.).
• Competency with Inspection Data Checklists (IDCs), sampling plans, Quality Assurance Planning systems, and Manufacturing Routing.
• Understanding of NDE/NDT acceptance documentation.
• Knowledge of ASME, nuclear, or special-process documentation (as applicable).
• Strong written documentation skills and audit readiness.

Physical Demands - The employee is required to:

• stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor
• exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
• exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or
• exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Certification Required - None

Visual Acuity - Near acuity and accommodation are required for inspection operations, random visual checks, reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts and machinery. Visual acuity testing is required annually. Accommodation must be made as required for reading and inspection activities.

Hearing Ability - Ability to communicate with employees.

Working Conditions -

Normally works in a shop environment and may frequently be subject to:

• High noise levels from machinery
• Physical hazards from moving equipment and production components
• Breathing fumes, dust and mist
• Skin exposure to oils and cutting fluids
• Welding flashes
