Lead Project Manager, Electricity Capital Project Delivery

National Grid is hiring a Lead Project Manager for our Contracts, Controls & Workplan Development department in Northboro or Waltham, MA. This is a hybrid and in field role with occasional travel required.

The Project Manager - Supplier Performance & Material Management is responsible for driving supplier performance and ensuring the timely, reliable delivery of materials supporting the National Grid's New England Electric Capital Investment Plan. This position is part of the Materials Management team supporting substation, transmission line, and distribution line projects.

The Project Manager will oversee supplier performance, material readiness, delivery commitments, issue resolution, and continuous improvement across a portfolio of capital projects. This role works closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Warehousing, Logistics, and external suppliers to identify material risks, resolve constraints, and prevent material shortages from affecting project schedules.

The successful candidate will combine strong project management skills with supplier relationship management, data analysis, and an understanding of utility construction materials and capital-project execution.

• Manage supplier performance through scorecards, business reviews, performance metrics, corrective action plans, and executive-level engagement to ensure supplier accountability and continuous improvement.
• Establish and maintain material risk and supply chain management processes that proactively identify shortages, supplier risks, market constraints, and mitigation strategies to protect project delivery schedules.
• Oversee material readiness across a portfolio of capital projects by monitoring critical and long-lead materials from purchase through delivery and ensuring alignment with construction schedules and project priorities.
• Partner with project teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to resolve material issues, develop recovery plans, and ensure timely communication of material status, risks, and delivery commitments.
• Serve as the primary liaison for supplier performance, material availability, and construction readiness, driving cross-functional coordination among Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Procurement, Stock and Non-Stock Warehouses, Logistics, Operations, and Finance.
• Develop executive dashboards, KPIs, reporting, and performance analytics that provide visibility into supplier performance, material readiness, supply risks, and portfolio-level project impacts.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives by enhancing forecasting, order tracking, expediting, inventory management, ERP processes, governance frameworks, and standard work while leveraging lessons learned and root-cause analysis to improve operational performance.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, Construction Management, Project Management, Logistics, or a related field.
• Five or more years of experience in project management, supplier management, procurement, supply chain, materials management, logistics, construction, or utility operations.
• Demonstrated experience managing suppliers, material-delivery commitments, or supply-chain performance.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and resolving complex issues involving multiple stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret project schedules, purchase orders, supplier commitments, performance data, and contractual requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and enterprise reporting or data-visualization tools.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment.
• Valid driver's license with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy required.
• Ability to perform storm duty support outside of regular working hours.
