Job Summary

The Digital Production Specialist supports UC Davis Health's digital presence through enterprise-focused web production, platform testing, and quality assurance. Reporting to the Digital Projects and Operations Manager, this role advances user-centered, accessible, and high-quality websites that meet visitor needs and align with institutional web strategies and priorities.

The position collaborates with a broad range of stakeholders to plan, create, layout, modify and publish web content across clinical, academic, research, and administrative sites. Working closely with digital team members, Public Affairs and Marketing staff, health system departments, and external partners, the incumbent ensures websites adhere to standards and requirements and deliver a positive user experience for website visitors.

The Digital Production Specialist also develops and maintains analytics and quality reports and project resources that provide data-informed insights to support decision-making and project objectives. By following industry best practices and brand and accessibility standards, the position helps maximize the effectiveness and reach of digital communications.

Success in this role requires strong communication skills, working knowledge of digital platforms and universal web standards, exceptional attention to detail, and adaptability and drive to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, user experience design or related field and/or equivalent experience and training.
  • Minimum of three years publishing web content, editing images, laying out content, improving user experience and meeting digital accessibility standards using an enterprise-level CMS for medium to large-sized organizations.
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience demonstrating strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize competing responsibilities, and achieve deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience directly engaging with customers, clients, and/or project stakeholders while demonstrating strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills to cultivate positive working relationships and advance shared objectives.
  • Experience with analytics tools and data to gather insights about visitor behavior and develop tactics for optimizing websites.
  • Experience with HTML.
  • In-depth knowledge of enterprise CMS platforms and related features.
  • Interpersonal skills to foster positive and effective working relationships.
  • Thorough understanding of user-experience principles to create clear, informative and relevant websites.
  • Ability to independently organize work and prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic and deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to collaborate across diverse teams and communicate clearly about complex topics and technical issues (especially with non-technical stakeholders).
  • Thorough understanding of digital accessibility standards and specific compliance requirements for the web.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify issues, develop effective solutions, and present recommendations. Ability to advise content producers effectively on content needs for websites.
  • Ability to enforce and implement accessibility and website standards to maintain UC Davis Health's brand and quality standards.
  • Ability to learn, adapt to and apply new technologies quickly and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to assist in user testing of new and updated CMS features with attention to detail and ability to document observations and outcomes.
  • Ability to gain thorough knowledge of UC Davis, including its achievements, mission, goals, vision, infrastructure and products and services. Ability to interpret and apply all relevant University of California, UC Davis and UC Davis Health policies and procedures, in addition to laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy rights, copyrights and public information.
  • Commitment to continual professional growth and development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of content optimization for search and readability.
  • Experience with and understanding of the following tools: OpenText Teamsite, SiteImprove, and Wrike.
  • Understanding of privacy laws as they apply to a patient-care environment.
  • Knowledge of and experience with CSS, JavaScript and schema.org structured data.
