The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Phoenix is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated person with the required experience to work as a Corrections Food Service Instructor. This role offers the chance to lead and help individuals learn the skills needed to support effective food service operations.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position leads inmates who work in food service operations. It focuses on hands-on training, safety, and effective processes and procedures for the preparations of meals. As a Corrections Food Service Instructor, you will perform the following duties:
- Food Service Instruction: Teach inmates proper methods for food preparation, production, and service
- Process Oversight: Maintain safe and sanitary operations including the use of tools and equipment, cleaning, maintenance, and storage practices
- Meal Preparation: Ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner and according to established recipes
- Inspection Duties: Inspect food service areas, equipment, and food to ensure compliance with established standards and requirements
- Inventory Management: Review census and menu data, adjust recipes accordingly, manage supplies, and follow first-in, first-out procedures
- Supervision and Records: Plan work assignments, complete performance evaluations, and maintain worker records

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
- Work hours to be determined.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,010 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
