Heavy Duty Truck/Trailer Mechanic Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Perform comprehensive maintenance and repair of heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment. - Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, brake, steering, engine, transmission, and suspension systems. - Conduct preventative maintenance services, including oil changes, battery testing, lubrication, inspections, and routine servicing. - Perform welding, fabrication, and structural repairs on trailers and equipment as needed. - Troubleshoot equipment issues and determine appropriate corrective actions. - Conduct safety inspections to identify mechanical concerns and ensure equipment readiness. - Maintain all fleet equipment in accordance with DOT regulations and safety standards. - Inspect, repair, and replace worn or damaged components to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. - Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records. - Ensure equipment is roadworthy, load-ready, and operating safely. - Manage daily repair and maintenance tasks independently while coordinating with team members as needed. - Follow all company safety procedures and maintenance best practices. Heavy Duty Truck/Trailer Mechanic Requirements: - High school diploma or GED preferred. - Previous heavy-duty truck and trailer repair experience preferred. - Welding and fabrication experience highly preferred. - Experience performing preventative maintenance and mechanical diagnostics on commercial vehicles preferred. - Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. - Knowledge of truck and trailer systems, including engines, brakes, steering, transmissions, electrical systems, and suspension components. - Ability to perform welding and structural repairs. - Understanding of DOT regulations and commercial vehicle safety requirements. - Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards. - Ability to work independently and efficiently manage repair priorities. - Dependable attendance and proven reliability. - Positive attitude and ability to work within a team-oriented environment. - Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. - Ability to inspect equipment and identify maintenance needs before failures occur. - Class A CDL preferred.
