Research Assistant I - Shao Lab

Position Summary:
The Shao laboratory is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented research assistant for a full-time role, to study genetic mutations during the development of the human brain. The labs are broadly interested in prenatal human cerebral cortical development associated with autism, intellectual disabilities. The focus of this position will be on single-cell genomics and developmental neuroscience.

The experience is uniquely suited to students pursuing graduate school or a career at the biomedical translational interface.

Key Responsibilities:

• Will perform bioinformatic somatic mutations detection and analysis which includes pipeline development and bioinformatic analysis.
• Will develop and validate informatic workflows.
• Will also be taught to analyze multiple types of genomic data and will have the opportunity to contribute intellectually to presentations and publications.
• Will work with other research assistants to provide basic support to the lab, such as creating shared documentation and broader analysis needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
• Basic informatics skills - R, Python, Unix ( for cluster computing).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
• Detail oriented in documentation and communication.
• Open to undergraduates and graduates.
• Prior informatics experience preferred.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
