Shop Monitor (Evenings and Weekends)

Job Summary

Assist Fabrication Facilities Manager, Students and Faculty by overseeing the safe and effective operation of the equipment and maintenance of the Design Arts Annex lab on a day-to-day basis.

Essential Functions

• Oversee the safe and effective operation of the Design Arts Annex shop facility.
• Implement and enforce shop standards/policies and safety rules.
• Provide introductory support to students regarding course projects.
• Assist students with technical advice/assistance on process and procedures.
• Ensure that students are operating toots & machinery safely and correctly
• Provide occasional providence of shop training/orientation sessions and working guidelines for Interior or Architecture students that will be qualified to use the facilities and equipment.
• Supervise and conduct maintenance and repair of shop tools, equipment, and the shop environment.
• Maintain standards of cleanliness in the shop.
• Other tasks assigned by Fabrication Facilities Manager.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with woodworking equipment and tools, and 1 year of experience with welding (MIG), metal working tools and equipment.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Additional Information

This is a Part-Time casual position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
