Risk Management/Patient Relations/Quality Coordinator RN - La Jolla

This is a full-time benefited position working 8-hour shifts Monday-Friday. Hours are typically 8am to 5pm.

Position does not require weekends or holidays. Located at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.

The Risk Management/Quality Coordinator RN manages publicly reported and other significant quality measures and performance improvement in collaboration with administrative, clinical and physician leadership for their assigned service line. In addition, you will be responsible for:

• Performs concurrent review of medical records for core measures and other clinical indicators based on established definitions and provides real time feedback and intervention with clinical staff and physicians to ensure optimal quality patient care.

• Additionally, this RN position abstracts records based on established indicators of the medical staff for peer review for assigned populations; facilitates the peer review process, ongoing physician performance review and decision support for medical staff reappointment.

• In the absence of the Director, Medical/Legal Affairs, oversees office and provides independent judgment and support to patients, physicians, Scripps Clinic employees, and attorneys.

• Provides comprehensive administrative support in risk management issues to the Director, Medical/Legal Affairs.

• Assumes the Patient Advocate role helping patients whose problems need to be resolved immediately in the absence of the Patient Advocate.

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

• Training and application of Patient Safety Reporting programs or like-data based strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with Joint Commission standards as they relate to Performance Improvement and/or Medical Staff Quality/Peer review strongly preferred.

• EPIC experience preferred.

• Ability to multitask, handle multiple competing priorities and pivot frequently.

• Previous experience in quality improvement methods and tools preferred.

• Knowledge of Core Measures or other publicly reported quality metrics preferred.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

• Minimum of 5 years recent direct patient care experience within the last 10 years OR currently holding a coordinator/leadership level role within an acute care setting.

• Requires attention to detail, analytical skills, excellent communication skills and intermediate computer skills.

• Bachelor's degree required.

Required Certification/Registration:

• CA RN required.
