• Assist medical providers with patient intake, obtaining and documenting health information, preparing patients for examinations, and performing basic patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or Advanced Practice Provider.
• Perform clinical procedures within scope of practice, including EKGs, venipuncture, medication and vaccine administration, nebulizer treatments, wound care, durable medical equipment (DME) application, ear irrigation, and other provider-directed treatments.
  
  

• Welcome and assist patients with clinic check-in, facilitate patient flow, chaperone examinations when needed, and provide patient education and follow-up instructions as directed by the healthcare team.
• Float between Primary Care, Gynecology Services, and other assigned clinics to provide flexible clinical support and help ensure continuity of patient care.
  
  

• Maintain exam room readiness by stocking supplies, preparing equipment, and supporting efficient daily clinic operations.
• Accurately document patient information and clinical activities using the electronic health record while maintaining confidentiality and supporting quality patient care.
  
  

• Assist in immunization clinics, monitor expirations, preparation for accreditation and other compliance site visits.
• Participate in fire, code blue and emergency preparedness drills.
• Must report to work during Adverse Weather and related scenarios and for public health emergencies.

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Necessary Special Qualification Requirements - Some positions may require registration as a Nurse Aide by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, or certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).

• Experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems to document patient information and support clinical workflows.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and its application in a clinical healthcare setting.
• Demonstrated proficiency performing clinical procedures within scope of practice, such as venipuncture, EKGs, vaccine and medication administration, wound care, nebulizer treatments, durable medical equipment (DME) application, and ear irrigation.
• Experience providing patient-centered care in an ambulatory, primary care, Gynecology Services , or college health setting, with an understanding of the healthcare needs of a college-age population.

• Completed Medical Assistant training program that is accredited by the accrediting bureau of Health Education School (ABEHES) or the commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP)
• Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistant (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or National Healthcareer Association Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
