Department Overview

The Distribution Control Center (DCC) is responsible for the real-time monitoring, operation, and restoration of the electric distribution system to ensure safe, reliable service to our customers. The team coordinates closely with field personnel, emergency response teams, and internal partners to manage both planned and unplanned outages, including large-scale storm and Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events.

This is a 24/7 operation that requires continuous coverage to support system reliability, emergency response, and customer restoration efforts.

Position Summary

The Supervisor, System Operations & Control, leads frontline operations within a 24/7 control center environment, overseeing system operators responsible for grid monitoring, outage response, and restoration activities. This role ensures safe and compliant operations while driving timely and effective decision-making during both routine and emergency conditions.

Supervisors are expected to work static or rotating shifts that include days, nights, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs. Due to the nature of the work, overtime is required, particularly during periods of increased system demand, major outage events, storms or PSPS activations, where all-hand support is expected.

This position requires strong leadership presence on-site, the ability to make critical decisions in high-pressure environments, and a commitment to supporting team performance, safety, and operational excellence at all times.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

A reasonable salary range is:

California Minimum: $143,00

California Mid-Point: $194,000

California Maximum: $244,000

Reporting

This position reports to the Senior Manager, Distribution Control Center.

The Supervisor leads a team of Control Center System Operators and/or Lead System Operators responsible for real-time grid monitoring, outage response, and restoration activities. The team operates in a 24/7 environment, providing continuous support for system operations, emergency response, and customer restoration efforts.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversees the daily execution of the Control Center System Operators and Lead System Operators.
• Leads the team and partners with field Supervision to improve system reliability and customer communications.
• Reviews documentation, procedures and outcomes of both planned and unplanned outages. Ensures logs are complete and compliant. Reviews the quality of unplanned outage work. Reviews and determines if planned outages really need to occur or if work can be done without outages.
• Tracks and reports on status of equipment repairs for the critical operating equipment (COE) process.
• Manages deadlines for compliance requirements including mandated compliance and safety training.
• Manages budget, monitors, tracks expenditures within authorized amounts and manage overtime spend.
• Supervises staff to accomplish results through recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and rewards and recognition. Establishes shift schedules, review and approves timecards.

Background Qualifications

Minimum

• High School Diploma or General Educational Development
• 3 years total relevant experience

Desired

• Bachelor's degree
• Experience supervising bargaining unit employees
• 2 years as an electric system operator
• Strong customer service orientation
• Knowledge of electric distribution system concepts, equipment, monitoring and switching methods, techniques and procedures
• Understanding of electric outage restoration processes, best practices
• Supervisory skills
• Communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel
• Knowledge of safety practices and requirements
• Knowledge of the union contract agreements
• General financial and budgeting skills
