Position Summary

SUMMARY:

The Product Line Business Manager (PLBM) provides senior business leadership and end-to-end ownership for assigned product lines. The role combines product line strategy, P&L accountability, program execution, customer leadership, forecasting, and people leadership to deliver profitable growth and operational performance. The PLBM leads a cross-functional business team, serves as a key escalation point to division leadership, and develops strategic objectives for existing and future products, customers, and markets.

Leads direct reports that may include Product Line Managers, Program Managers, with dotted-line to supporting functions as applicable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Own product line P&L and business performance, including revenue, bookings, margin, inventory, forecast accuracy, cost, schedule, and achievement of strategic objectives.


  • Develop and execute product, pricing, promotion, customer channels, and market strategies that drive profitable growth and margin expansion.


  • Lead strategic planning, annual and long-range forecasting, budgeting, portfolio prioritization, and business plans based on customer needs, market trends, competitive activity, and financial opportunities.


  • Own the complete product life cycle and portfolio roadmap from concept and new product development through launch, growth, simplification, maturity, and end-of-life.


  • Translate customer and market requirements into product and business priorities; consult with current and prospective customers and serve as a senior escalation point for customer, commercial, and program issues.


  • Lead cross-functional execution to meet customer, quality, cost, delivery, schedule, regulatory, and business commitments; monitor performance and drive corrective actions when required.


  • Direct major proposals, business cases, new product launches, and growth initiatives; align Engineering and other functions to market needs and investment priorities.


  • Drive portfolio complexity reduction, Simple by Design, product cost-out, inventory improvement, pricing actions, and continuous improvement using Parker Operating Principles.


  • Monitor competitors, customer scorecards, market dynamics, and strategic positioning; convert insights into commercial and portfolio actions.


  • Lead organizational and program readiness for key customer and business requirements, including risk identification, mitigation, and cross-functional follow-through.


  • Build and develop a high-performing team through coaching, performance management, talent development, and effective collaboration across functions.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline; MBA preferred.


  • 10+ years of progressive professional experience in product management, business leadership, program management, business development, or related functions, including significant product portfolio responsibility.


  • Demonstrated leadership of teams and complex cross-functional programs; prior people-management experience required.


  • Demonstrated success managing P&L/business performance, program cost and schedule, strategic planning, forecasting, and customer relationships.


  • Strong understanding of product and manufacturing technology, business systems, financial controls, contractual terms, and regulatory requirements.


  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, presentation, and influencing skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM tools such as Salesforce.


  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and travel up to 25%

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

  • Financial Performance: Revenue, margin expansion, P&L

  • Operational Performance: Forecast accuracy, inventory, and delivery (OTR/TTA/TTR as applicable).

  • Commercial Performance: Bid/Win Ratio, strategic positioning, and customer scorecards

  • Program cost/schedule performance and new product launch performance versus business case.

  • Portfolio Performance: Product portfolio complexity reduction, Simple by Design/product cost-out, Sales Price Index, Product Vitality Index, and other division-defined business measures.

  • Pay Range: $140915 to $246685 annually
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
